Sad news indeed. Albino will always have a special place in my heart.
When it first came out in v1, it was the first soft-synth that made me go wow, ok, soft-synths are destined to take over from hardware. And I used it in several single releases. Albino 3 also still holds the best lead sound I've ever created, I've tried to get close to it with other soft-synths but, can't quite do it, so it'll always stay on my vst instruments list.
I also like how the GUI keeps things compact without seeming too small, allowing control over a lot of things in a good space.

And what lead sound (patch name) would that be? I'm curious to hear the sound myself.Arksun wrote:Albino 3 also still holds the best lead sound I've ever created, I've tried to get close to it with other soft-synths but, can't quite do it.

If either Linplug or Rob Papen were to continue support I'd feel better about buying it again. But without support I'd hate to run into a similar problem as this http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=348873 and not have a way to deal with it.Teksonik wrote:Yes why is it " the end " ? If it's working on 64 bit OS now why panic? I'd suggest buying it by the end of the year if it's something you've always wanted. I love my Albino 3 and until there is a 128 bit operating system I don't see it's demise coming anytime in the near future.......Besides it was programmed by Linplug not Rob Papen so maybe they'll pick it up at the end of 2012........filter303 wrote:Why do you need to replace it if it's still working in the OS and DAW your using?

An early variation of it was the lead in Arisen. The current version hasn't been used in a track (yet), but I'll never ever give or sell this particular one away.bmrzycki wrote:And what lead sound (patch name) would that be? Albino is great but I think its very expensive, they could sell it before the end of 2012, so I can buy it...
Maybe 50$, heh...

Would be nice, I wished NI had done that with Pro-53 too, but they never did.PlasticSoul wrote:Albino is great but I think its very expensive, they could sell it before the end of 2012, so I can buy it...

Ah, that's how I acquired it. I'm surprised that developers even allow theirPlasticSoul wrote:Albino is great but I think its very expensive, they could sell it before the end of 2012, so I can buy it...

work to be sold on, but I can see the logic in it - giving first time buyers a way out if they need it.
I liked it so much I bought RMV too. Just like a new copy. Peter treats you like a first time buyer. I seriously love this developer and his company.
Which leads me on to:
WTF are you lot blethering on about? Does it not still do the job it was intended to do? Off the point, but I will say it: Does anything do it better?
Not really, eh? Pads! Basses! Weird shit!
Maybe it's time for the man to move on and dedicate his efforts to something new?
People cried out for MAC mac mac..
Peter gave them Mac...
Time to move on.
Jesus, it is a fu****g masterpiece.
Would you berate Michelangelo because he decided to give it all up and take up knitting?
I bet you would. Bunch of weirdos.
Edit:
The idea about a new skin is not so crazy though.
Blue on black, might be nice. Give it a whole new sound

nothing on the Linplug site about them discontinuing the synth. And it is for sale there as well. wierdness...if they had a good sale I might pick it up. But it would need to be a whale of sale. Not hearing anything in the demo tracks that I can't get something similar in what I already have...but then i am a synth addict

My speculation is that Linplug will carry it on, and RP has just chosen to cut ties with it and let it go, meaning no more support/sales/blah blah from RP.
Peter recently spoke of an upcoming update to Albino3, IMO it's at the top of their product line...it would be foolish to let it go.
