Light blue does make it easier on the eyes. We are in development for the next version of SampleTank. It will have all the requests you guys have been asking for and more. Quality takes time. It takes YEARS to write, cast, shoot and produce a film before you ever see a trailer. Its coming though and it will bring some jaw dropping features and sounds.

I'm liking a light yellow actually, much easier to see.ObiK wrote:Light blue does make it easier on the eyes. We are in development for the next version of SampleTank. It would still be nice if you guys would fix the sampletron bug that caused the crash. Since it is 100% reproducible wouldn't it be easy to find?

There were some tools out there for converting to and from SampleTank v1 format, but I don't know of anything reliable for ST2 sounds.
That SampleTron bug really is an embarassment that IK/SR should have patched/fixed long ago. But at least using the 'Tank interface does allow you to sidestep it.
The other, more important advantage of using 'Tank rather than 'Tron is that you can also use Mellotron or other sounds from libraries like Mello Zone (one of the original Expansion Tank titles) or the Squids Tron Collection within the same interface. Even the free version of SampleTank can play them all.
SampleTron only allows you to play its own library. That was a major bummer which caused me to uninstall it immediately. If I'm going to have to use 'Tank to play the Mello Zone and Squids sounds anyway, there's not much point in adding a second interface for the SampleTron library.

I was just looking for SampleTron threads and noticed this. I was listening to that not long ago.

I was going to buy sampletron in the sale
but changed my mind after reading this tale ,
of silly colors and very small write
that made the sampletron sound too shite
so trakstar went for a reverb source
to audio damage, where he bought Eos,
and never looked back cos the qualitee'
spoke for itself and was plain to see
ohhhh

I just purchased SampleTron on the $29.99 special. I tried to get it to crash Ableton Live 8.3.3 with track duplicating, instantiate plug, delete plug for five minutes and it was rock solid. I'm running Windows XP... what operating system are you on?Echoes in the Attic wrote:So I've been forced to use SampleTank because SampleTron crashes Ableton Live quite a bit. Every single time you remove the plug-in actually. The response to support was to use it in the free SampleTank 2.5 instead. If you ask me, they should fix such a 100% reproducible bug, but oh well...
So I'm using SampleTank 2.5 for the SampleTron library now. Works fine and definitely love the library (more than M-Tron Pro even). But my god what an ugly plug-in, the tiny text over a red background, you barely see anything.
So I'm wondering...
Since SampleTron seems like just a skin for Sampletank, would it be possible to put the SampleTron skin on sampletank?
Has anyone heard of updates coming to SampleTron and/or SampleTank that would fix bugginess and ugliness?
cheers

Ditto, I have an up to date Live and XP Service Pack 3. Downloaded it last night and will try tonight and see if I have problems.
Hopefully not, but I am going to a Windows 7 system soon, so hopefully I can use it on the XP for a while without issues.

If there is a problem, it lies more with Ableton Live than SampleTron/Tank.Echoes in the Attic wrote:So I've been forced to use SampleTank because SampleTron crashes Ableton Live quite a bit
When installing Ableton recently I assigned the VST folder to my regular VST folder. Boy was that a mistake. Not only did Ableton not manage to load most of my VST's, it actually froze on each start up because it would not stop scanning VST's, so I couldn't get in to the programme to change the VST folder. Total Catch 22.
My conclusion is that Ableton is good for it's own thing, but I'm not using it with VST's anymore.

No, I decided to use FL Studio, and rather input Ableton into that environment via ReWire.robojam wrote:Did you try a rescan with Shift held down?
Might take a while to do but it starts building the database from scratch when you do that.

Just to clarify, as far as the original question, I'm on OSX Lion, Ableton Live 8. And yes, it doesn't happen in other hosts like Studio One or Maschine. Now that I know about the SampleTank color control, I'm fine with it. The red was just unbearable. Using a light yellowish color works for me.
The 29.99 deal right now is a no brainer, totally worth it. I prefer using this to M-Tron pro actually. I just wish it would go 64 bit.
