Got Diva, getting Dune...I think they compliment each other very well!

Many people seem to think that Dune is a trance machine and Diva can only emulate vintage stuff but that's not quite true. Both synthns are way more flexible than they seem to be.
A few "trancy" Diva examples:
Mandatory Supersaw Thingy
Another Trancy Thing
Something Different
A Nice Pad
And some not so trancy DuneBE examples:
A Weird Wavetable Thing
A Drone-ish Thingy
A Cheesy 80s Sound
(I already posted these in another thread some days ago iirc. I hope it doesn't get annoying. It just seems relevant here.)
Cheers
Dennis

explains why i can't seem to drive anywhere with dune, and why diva tastes so awful...

I personally like Dune's mallet and organ sounds best. Not exactly trancy

As Levzi said: what kind of music do you make? While I agree with Dennis that both don't necessarily need to be pigeon-holed into their respective "categories", they do lend themselves more easily to "modern" (Dune) and "vintage" (Diva) sounds. If you're into the retro thing, then you're going to be much happier with Diva, providing your puhter can handle it.
I think dune has a really, really nice sound, though, and the unison functions that set it apart are amazingly fat and warm.

Yep, there are excellent demo versions available for both plug-ins. Check out some presets, get an understanding of the user interface and see how well they work with your particular setup and musical style.Kriminal wrote:why? just download both demos and make your own mind up...who cares what anyone else thinks, its your musicMIDICH1 wrote:Just wanted your fabulous opinions.

Yeah I really think Dune is well rounded. I'd like a 70s Retro progressive soundbank, but I have the cm version, and not sure what is out there or compatable.fisherKing wrote:never used it for either of those sounds. more for leads, arpy things, pads. so i AM using it for more trancy sounds...braj wrote:I personally like Dune's mallet and organ sounds best. Asking whether to buy Dune or to buy Diva is like asking whether to eat with a fork or a spoon... it basically depends on what you want you eat.
I can hardly imagine two more completely different synths... that's why this question confuses me a bit.

Nope! I just "painted" the sequences into the piano rollzvenx wrote:Hi Dennis, hadn't heard those before... for the Diva ones you are using an external arpeggiator?
rsp
I'm not the biggest fan of arpeggiators to be honest. I need ultimate control over every single aspect of my sounds/melodies/mixes/whatever
