I ordered a midi only interface, and I am going to unplug my USB soundcart, it will only act as a surface control via midi.

Technically, even if wine works, I don't think that it's the good path. Because you're stuck with cross updates between wine, wineasio, alsa, jack and you can't get something stable.

And to tell if there is a market for paid-for software, I'm not sure. I *did* bought the LinuxDSP plugs, because they are so nice. And I wait for the next Loomer product. Maybe you should ask the Loomer guy, he's cool.
Yeah, I take your point about Wine not being an ideal solution. :)

The thing is, while doing a Linux-specific version *is* feasible, as you say the market demand might not justify the expense. Its a tough one!

Just to note that Noatikl has finally arrived on the Apple Mac Store:

Any chance Mixtikl for Android might make it to an international App store? For such a niche product it seems odd to launch it US-exclusively. I mean, not even Brian Eno could buy it right now. ;)

Hi!

Yes, the Android version of Mixtikl is only on the Amazon app store at the moment... currently at #4 Music -> Instruments, which is nice!

We'd love to be able to sell the Android version worldwide, but there are all sorts of issues with Google Play at the moment, which is why we launched on Amazon....

If interested, you could check-out these two pages from Google - how hard can they make it?

Here is an interesting the background discussion to all this...!

We really hope that Amazon will roll-out their app store worldwide at some point. Soon. :)

Hi Pete

Thanks, I can see the hassle (or the legal risk), but basically it's the same hassle you're required to do with your website sales. If you're already doing it there, there's not much extra hassle to add a couple of dollars more.

If you don't do it there... well... I'm pretty sure the $5 from the play store won't be the tipping point. Or rather, if you feel you're e.g. EU-VAT exempt with website sales for whatever reason, the play store contracting and billing modalities will put play store sales perfectly in line with that reasoning, because they apparently treat play store sales like off-site sales. I'm sure that's what google was thinking, for better or for worse.

Ironically, the ad-supported app model mentioned in one of those threads changes nothing. Instead of supplying software, you are supplying advertising space. That's not VAT exempt anymore than a paid app or a website sale is. Possibly less so even, for several reasons I'll not go into here.

Anyway, not to take this off topic... I've just been wanting to buy it and I don't see Amazon moving along very quickly with their app store. We waited two years for the Kindle store. That would mean summer 2013.

Best Regards

I guess you've already noticed this, but Android have now rolled-out their App Store to most countries in the world. In other words, you *should* hopefully be able to get Mixtikl for Android via Amazon. :)

Best wishes,

Pete
