Well, the important thing is that the correct midi channel sent out from the computer to the JV.thecontrolcentre wrote:No, this is wrong. The Korg should be sending on the same channel that the JV is receiving, otherwise it won't work.NON_73 wrote:Have you checked midi settings on your computer, Jv and the Micro Korg?
Everything should be assigned to different MIDI channels so they can understand on what channel they will receive and send.

Not if all the OP wants is to play the JV, and record what he plays.NON_73 wrote:Well, the important thing is that the correct midi channel sent out from the computer to the JV.thecontrolcentre wrote:No, this is wrong. I understand it would be better to send midi to and from the computer, but it does complicate things for the OP, and I don't think his PC is hooked up for MIDI, except over USB.

Click the monitor button on your DAW's audio channel.
Then you'll hear what you're playing
soooooo many times I forgot this.......

Ok, cool. So it's not a problem to have audio cables go from the jv to the audiobox, then?
The audiobox does have midi slots for mid in and out.
And correct, my computer doesn't have any midi, only usb.
I've thought the microkorg and the JV were set to the same channel, as I saw '1' displayed on the JV above the channel knob, and the microkorg's was set to 1 (I know how to do that on the mk). I haven't tried using them with the DAW yet, only MIDI-OX, which seems to have some serious issues with recognizing any device in the chain other than the presonus audiobox. It doesn't list the JV which is connected to the audiobox, nor the microkorg which is connected to the JV. Perhaps MIDI-OX is not a good software for this?
Reason for using the MIDI-OX is it's lightweight and faster to launch than cubase which also requires the dongle:(, plus opening a project, setting inputs and outputs. Not ideal for just test running a set up. But if MIDI-OX isn't up to the task I might have no other choice.

Never mind, I managed to get sound via the connection now. Thanks so much for all your help.
Not sure what did it. Maybe it was that I'd just gotten the JV and it can get a bit overwhelming to get even the basics right in the beginning when you just want to play the thing.
But it could've been the midi cable being plugged wrong, or the switch on the back of the JV not being set to midi or any other issue that prevented me earlier...

Now imagine having a studio with 20 hardware synths, a few effect processors, and a big ass mixer
