Okay, demo track extended with new material! Hope you all like it. I know I screwed up the mix a little on the first half of the track though.

Hey :D

What I am trying to achieve is to get the strongest sounds out of D.U.N.E. I can, learning a few particular things about how to set up the OSC's in DUNE so you get the deepest bass for example, and how to set up the oscs for punchy plucks. I feel that this soundset will be a really bread and butter set for uplifting trance and dance.

That's what I tried to achieve with my sylenth1 soundset also. So expect it to be a little similar but more more complex as DUNE does more.

I hope to release it soon but I really couldn't say. It's got to get to a point where I feel each preset has a personal feel that is as unique as I can get it.

Regards

Just as a by the way I've updated the mix. It's possible if you have a good memory, you will noticed that it's now a lot louder. It's got a different chain now but I feel the main contribution to this loudness was Density MkIII (by turning up the colour knob) Toneboosters Reelbus, Reaplugs reaXcomp and barricade.

I don't think it sounds quite slammed and distorted like some other stuff you hear but I do think it sounds loud.

Just a bump, this set will work with DUNE LE and BE versions, simply because I have not used modulations beyond one page and none of the presets rely extensively on the fx for their sound. I used the distortion in the filter for example, instead of in the fx. about 90% of the sounds will sound very much the same with your own external effects (if you need them).

just started playing with this tonite; kinda making me rediscover dune! it's an exceptional soundset; great pads, basses, leads...

my favorite soundsets (on any plugin) seem to push the instruments further than you'd expect; this does that.
highly recommended for anyone using dune...

It's quite a tasteful set, by Chicanes Engineer if I understand right, and it shows, they are pretty clearly designed by someone who makes tracks professionally but you should know, and these are just the facts and as a customer:

1) A certain amount of the presets distort at their saved level

2) Modwheel is not routed on every preset. I know sometimes it's a little contrived, but people have said to me and I now agree that at least a filter modulation if nothing else. You expect that.

3) Presets are named just whatever they are named, but there are no prefixes such as LD or BS or PD. Of course in DUNE you can just use the category but I am one of the people that tend to not use that function and prefer a pre-fix.

Minor things really, more to do with putting the bank together than the sound design itself.

Anyway, just wanted to say he's got a good few dark pads in there and It's a pretty good set. Its definitely got a style of its own and quite different from mine.
Hey,

since you commented on the FSS sound set, i would like to say that it is very versatile and i like that the presets are named. Tundra 2 is more specialized and the presets are numbered Bass2, Bass 3 etc. which i feel takes a bit of the soul out of your set.

Best,

Phil
Finally!

Thanks, I didn't see this for a while.

Yes I can see after the fact why it might be best to keep names. It helps memory and also imparts the designers vision. But when making a track I really find just simply bass1 bass2 etc quite handy. But, having said that, something like

BA1.PWM Unison
BA2.Smooth Sub etc would be a good compromise. Sometimes I remember numbers better than names.

Your right about the versatility in contrast to my specialized set. With Tundra 2 I really wanted to make a get down to business trance set, everything you need right there for big trance tracks, fast and ready. Tundra 1 was more experimental and exploratory and I felt I needed to fill it in a little with Vol 2. The audio demo of Tundra 2 showed where I was going.

Thanks for your comments again
