If I have an asus p6t motherboard with core i7 and 12 gb of corsair 1333 ram can I upgrade to 32 gb of ram at like 1888 or whatever the fastest is.
I run too much vsts and its slowing me down.

What sort of VSTs?
I don't know of any Compressors or EQs which would profit from having 32GB RAM, because DSP calculations strain the CPU, not memory.
If you mean VSTi - I don't know of any Synth that would profit from having 32GB RAM, because sound creation algorithms strain the CPU, not memory.
If you mean Samplers like Kontakt etc., most of them stream directly from disk nowadays, so it's more likely that your HDD is braking your performance, not your memory.
Drum Samplers like Superior Drummer will load samples into RAM, but a fully setup drum kit with two kicks and lots of brass and multiple-layered snare from other libraries plus all the "max voices" etc. turned up ... that will take up about 1 to 1.5 GB of RAM.
Either way, you're probably better off with optimizing your System components like HDD and/or getting a better CPU.
Getting more RAM will very likely not do anything for you at all.

when I start my computer up and all the applications load on the main desktop it takes a few moments it seems.
Second when I restart my computer it says cpu overheated and I always have to push f1.
Not sure if everything is hooked up or working as fast as it could be. Was built by somebody who isnt pro.

1) Stop all the applications you don't need from Autostarting.
2) Don't overclock your CPU.
3) Assure there's decent airflow inside your computer's case.
4) Give it to someone who IS pro for an hour.

Does it acturly say overheated? The only error I've seen like that at start up is "CPU Fan not Spinning/Detected" which normally says press F1 to continue. If it was overheating it'd be shutting down in windows not warning you at startup!royaldeadman wrote: Second when I restart my computer it says cpu overheated and I always have to push f1.
Check to see if the fan is connected to the CPU header (could be on a case fan header) and is spinning up properly.
Applications taking a few seconds to start. You on an SSD or a Mechanical if it's the latter I'd fully expect that to be the case.

Got the new 8GB this morning, installed it rebooted and it was recognised.
Checked out the numbers with Speccy and no voltages or frequency changes etc, everything looks and seems to be running perfectly.
Loaded Cubase did a couple of recordings and loaded up more vst and vsti's etc than i'm ever likely to use normally in a recording and not a click, pop or judder or anything.
Its made a vast difference, used some heavy duty filters in Photoshop CS6 and some video rendering with Premiere and it ripped throught the jobs.
also made small work of video capture from webcam in full HD mode, which used to always drop half of every seconds recorded frames
£40 well spent
many thanks for all the help, cetrtainly paid off
