well i won't say cause i will get banned.
but there is NO way to spin this to make it funny.
I feel for the customers but no pity for the "developers". Companies go out of business all the time for various reasons. Poor product, poor service, bad management...all of the above. Life sucks, get a helmet.

Not that I'm a fan of Synthedit or turn this into a war but OP-X does really well so Synthedit alone can't be a reason.
I think software in general has a much shorter life span than hardware. Big names don't mean jack.
There's too much dependency / maintanance of all components between OS <> Host <> VST <> Plugin (framework/compiler/SDK).. Scary stuff if I think about how much money I've spent on plugins and knowing one of them *will* be gone rather sooner than later..

Synthmaker/Synthedit is sometimes a part of the problem, because the guys don't need the deep knowledge about DSP development and so the results are often more average. It's not the fail of this systems but of the guys using it. A lot of this guys focusing more to the GUI because it's easier to handle, than of the deep knowledge about DSP algorithms.
But without looking behind the walls and trying to make something really new and different, developers will not have a big chance to stay long in this business. There are too many trying the same things.

I think they coded their own Synthedit modules, so at least it wasn't super-pathetic. I didn't find them too interesting, but haven't demoed anything there in a few years.

The windows version of linuxsampler has improved a lot the past two years,Lotuzia wrote:Probably but who could have guessed that Gigasampler ( = Tascam + Teac ) would have disapeared so abruptly. My last computer where it was installed just crashed a few months ago. Now its gone for good. Just because plugins are made with SynthEdit doesn't mean their total shit. There are quite a few SE made plugins that are Top Notch and really Professional. It all depends on how their made. I can understand if you think SE or SM plugins are shit if you use Reaper as your DAW though. SE/SM plugins don't always get along with Reaper.

I always thought Starplugs were doing quite well.
Actually i thought their standard bluish GUI was not that inspiring, looked like they used it as the design frame for "every" plugin. They probably should of outsourced the GUI stuff.
Maybe their downfall wasn't financial, internal bickering/arguing/fighting can screw things up too.
Sorry to see you go Starplugs - RIP
