Steinberg really needs to refresh the way MIDI is handled internally in their DAWs; it's mostly functional but it sure isn't as elegant and streamlined as it should be. They should be using some type of hierarchical view for sources and destinations in the port listings (instead of one long scrolling list) and allow MIDI input mixing into the same track or VI. External loopback shouldn't be necessary; it makes it impossible to render a project offline. Getting this to work required downloading and installing loop Midi.
Then back in the Generic Remote, in the firt table all the addreses need to be set to 1. In the second table all the devices need to be set to Mixer.
On a side note, Cubase keeps losing my Channel/Category settings which is super annoying.
