I guess I'll have to test later and see!

I'm going to wait for it to be out of beta, but I'm really excited about this.

I posted the download link on page 1 of this thread, its in the forum under beta 8.4...

Direct Link to 64 bit beta.

When I click the "Download Live 8.4b1" link, the Ableton Beta Program page opens, but there's no link for the download program there.

I love the fact Ableton will be providing 64 bit as a free update. Nice :D

Looks like they removed the download maybe at the last minuet they realised they coded it in 128bit.

Found the problem. The "Ableton Beta Program" page, does not shows the "ACCEPT" box to click under Internet Explorer, I tried with Google Chrome and I was able to see it and go to the Download page. Weird.......

Very nice! I had been starting to lean towards Studio One solely because I needed the higher RAM usage of 64-bit. This is very cool.

I hate to bring up the taboo topic, but this seems like it could be minor bad news for Bitwig. I'm sure there are a handful of Live users who were eagerly awaiting Bitwig just to get 64-bit compatibility, who will now have no need to switch. Those old boys need to stop dragging their feet and get their shit to market already. When even Ableton can beat you to the punch, you know you're working too slowly. :)

Oh no !

Now the "Trolls" @ Ableton's forum are laid off and quasi homeless :D

What should they "troll" about now ? :help:

Can't believe this happens now and iam so excited to test it...

When will Live 128 bit be out ?

Post

I may have to try Ableton after all.

If bitwig delivers they are offering quite a bit more than 64 bit. I can think of few reasons to switch if bitwig delivers. The devil is in the details, however, so I'm withholding judgement until we see the beta.

I am seriously impressed with live 8.

I am a Cubase 6.5/Wavelab 7 user, but always had live as a fun 'looper', I recently took advantage of the sales and got max4Live and upgraded to live suit. Combined it is a stunning, versatile and creative 'instrument', but it is also a very deep DAW.

My new found enthusiasm (based on M4L and new suit toys) made me get a few (macpro) tuition videos and watch all of the excellent 'Ableton cookbook' utube video. I now legalise how little I actually knew about live and how much more it can do! I suspect I was using less than 10% of the features in live (let alone max or the suit).

There are some amazing innovations in Live, you could lose yourself in just the racks or follow actions; I suspect most of the people waiting for 'Live 9' haven't even scratched the urface of what Live 8 can do- I have had live 8 for 3 years, and I know (now) that I hadn't!

If you have never tried it, download the 30 day suit demo, but dont let the simple looking interface fool you! :D
