I sprang for their Emotional Piano based on the demos and my Xmas GAS. Very sorry I did -- the lower registers are just pure mud, and the rest is not special enought to compensate.

Hi,
Can't you use some form of vst bridge like Jbridge?
I have never used it myself, not sure if I'm understanding the full purpose of Jbridge-It may work.
Might be worth checking out.

Every guitar and bass library I got for Kontakt, especially those based on scripting, I don't know why exactly, but they tend to lag when you doodle too much and anyway the results are not so pleasing, especially I couldn't get any rhythm guitar sound any good at all. In the end I picked the actual guitar out of the closet, practiced a little bit and even though my skills are really very close to null, it's way better this way. And way more fun.

sampletank 2 xl original library. it was very expensive, when it came out (almost 500 €). later came the 2.1 revision, which almost doubled the content and we had to pay extra for the update (and if you didn't within a certain period, it was quite expensive). then came all the sales and ... i haven't use anything from it for years. the stuff, i have for Kontakt is usually much better. Sampletank 2 sounds couldn't even been converted.
i like the sample tron though ... but it crashes Live every time, you load another project, or every time, you unload it. never fixed bug.

That's funny, me too, but it inspired me to learn how to play guitar better and now I'm half decent on acoustic and electric guitar.

Bass is another issue.

Coyotes ForteDXi16. Bought this instrument to get hold of a decent General MIDI bank. And it sucks big time! Poorly looped, sounds with quality that would've made SB16 owners proud if they could have it.

Really unusable loops, they sound great by their own but it's impossible to use them in any production. I save just the "one shot" samples and hits...

Bela D Media's crap flute sample library a while back inspired me to learn to play actual instruments. I'm pretty good with the whistles I own now. I'll design a flute sample library to blow all others out of the water one day.

EW's Voices of Passion and Ministry of Rock are pretty lame. The legato in VOP is crap, with only the now-overused phrases being of any use, and all but the drum kits in MOR suck dirt. Stay away from them if you plan to get their Complete Composer bundle anytime soon. Also, don't touch Goliath. Preset variety shows are never good, especially not in a super-limited sample player like Play.

On a contradictory note, the Beatles' variety kit 'Fab Four' is a surprisingly useful replacement for any one of those in the bundle.

In terms of Kontakt libraries the likes of 8DIO, SoundIron and all them, I make a point not to spend a lot of money. I haven't been disappointed, but the libraries are very niche. From SoundIron, for example, I got the M1 Garand as a snare replacement and Glass Beach for glitchy and ambient stuff but haven't used them in anything yet. I'd love to use them but... how do you grab those things? Can't get a handle on them, so they collect dust.

Purchases I almost regret would be Impact Soundworks' Shreddage X and Shreddage Bass. They sound alright in some places, but I can't sculpt a good guitar tone to save my life. I know they'd be useful in at least supporting parts if I could manage, but they'd definitely not fit in any lead parts, that's for certain.

I'm big into guitar and bass libraries. I have guitar libraries from Orange Tree Samples, Pettinhouse, Prominy, Wavelore...With one major exception, they range from pretty good to superb. That exception, Lyrical Distortion, is the one that really stands out. Lyrical Distortion libraries are such poor quality that they are simply unusable due to bad mappings, notes with bad tunings, bad round robins, bad programming...They are far and away the worst commercial sample libraries I've ever used in nearly two decades of using sample libraries.

Even for $10, they weren't worth the money.

I'm going to say Sampletank too....

I was lucky in that I bought the expansion packs during a group buy, so it was cheap (5 or 6 for the price of one iirc), and used Sampletank FREE.

Out of the hundreds of sounds, I pretty quickly whittled it down to relatively few presets that were good and usable. And I deleted the rest.

When I built a new music PC earlier this year I haven't even bothered installing it (or any of my other IK plugins) - partly because I can't be bothered going through their authorisation process; too much effort for too little reward.

Slightly off topic but I'm trying to re-arrange my files again. I've reinstalled SampleTank without the factory collection. All I have available now are the expansions I bought for it. Things I want to use. The interface is much cleaner. There are some really great sounds in there imho.

Which library did you get and regret the most?
