So I bought the RE in September and I kind of regret buying the Rack Extension and not the Vst. The crossgrade price isn't terrible half off the regular price and at least by buying the Extension I get access to both the Reason one and the vst but sometimes I want to work without having to rewire into my Live to use my other plug ins. That said I plan to crossgrade to the vst even though there are benefits to having rack extensions I am just really into vsts right now.

I really like the vst version. I write chillout and music for computer games, and predator can give me those electronical sounds which are biting, but also in the atmosphere, i really like it !!! 8)

There's a demo version of the VST for you to try :)

I tried it but never clicked with it. There was a dry, metallic tone to most of the presets that I didn't like. It may be that I didn't explore it enough since I only looked into it fairly recently when I already had a great collection of soft and hardware analog/VA synths.

Just try the demo.. Everyone's taste is different. It's more about finding something that fits you and your style of music.
Hardware: Akai MPK61, MFB-Synth II, Roland JX-8P, Virus TI Snow, KORG MS2000R, Roland SH-01
Favorite software: Sylenth1, Synth1, Messiah, ME80, OPX-Pro II, Zebra 2, Diva, Reason, Studio One V2 Pro

I've had Predator for over a year now and love it for leads and anything that I want to pop out in the mix. I've seen the RE version and it looks like a excellent adaptation. I think Reason users will find Predator-RE and welcome addition to their arsenal. I hear there might be a SubBoomBass-RE down the road. That would also be sweet for P-head artists.

A lot of dubstep is made from older synths. It doesn't require some special dubstep synth to make dubstep. Skrillex uses FM8 and Massive.

It's how you write the songs, not what synth you use!
Has anybody ever really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Predator. Quick opinionated rant:
I don't like it. I actually can't stand all RP plugins. I also didn't like his book. Not against the man or anything. The presets are amazing. If Nexus is electro-house kid's first rompler, Predator is electro-house kid's first synth-that-gets-used-more-as-a-rompler. But I like making my own presets. In fact, I found predator's preset management system frustrating.

It's all about the wavelets. I dream of the perfect additive synthesis.

I have the VST version; it's a great bread and butter synth. Comes with a choice of great presets to get you started and easy on the CPU. Getting a bit long in the tooth but it gets the job done. Preset management system can be improved, though. To me it's a jack of all trades synth but master of none. It does everything well, but not exceedingly. If that makes sense.

I have Sylenth, Zebra, Saurus, ANA and CM editions of Dune, Curve 2 and Synthmaster for synths (+some other CM and free stuff which i don't use much). Should i bother to demo Predator or it won't bring me anything that is not covered by my current synths? Or probably i'm to look into Massive instead?

IMO the only upgrade to this list of fine instruments would be Diva.
