I wonder if you could use Plogue Chip crusher on FM8 to get that grit.. hmm
I don't even know what that is!
Chip as opposed to bit crushers? :hihi: Well, why not?

I'm getting a heck of a lot of latency issues with Chipcrusher atm. It sometimes works with 'constrain delay compensation' in Cubase, however that also automatically bypasses a number of plugins that I run, so I prefer not to do that atm.

Thanks!

I haven't used it in a serious project yet so can't confirm things have improved, but have you tried the latest version? There's been a flurry of updates over the last week or so. At least one of them improved latency reporting.

Thank you - I've been waiting for an email or tweet to tell me of an update, but nothing... will check it out :)

On the Master tab, in the Quality section, the Digital slider lets you lower the bit resolution, even lower than the DX7's 12 bits. That might help with getting the grit you're looking for.

Good to know for the FM8 owners. I'm not one of those though, as I only the original dx7

There's really only 3 FM patches. That bass one, the bells and the Doogie Howser piano. Seems like you probably have a lot of duplicates.

Thanks for the great effort!

I've found that many of the original DX-7 sounds don't work as well in "modern" productions (unless you add quite a few effects), though there are many that add a "classic" sound.

It's probably worth noting that this archive is compressed using 7-zip, which you will need to decompress it. If you need to get 7-zip, be aware there are many scammer Websites offering it. It's free, but you'll be better off getting it from the developer:

try to put the extracted files (.nfm8) in a directory & navigate in the FM8 File Browser to these files, the filenames should appear then in the browser.
