thanks for getting my back (and the rest of KVRs in the process).allofdrab wrote:Yah, I just want to add that there are a hell of a lot of KVR members who know an incredible amount about working with audio. Many of the members here have this knowledge because they've been doing it for years, are actually developers of the plugins, hosts and software that get talked about, and/or actually do work in audio for a living. Don't dismiss this forum based on your one post which was answered very well by micheal and who to his credit was quite open about his experience level nonetheless. In fact, no one here, or on any other forum, knows everything, and I for one appreciated michael's remark that he too did not know everything (well he referred to mastering; but you get my point). Still, that doesn't make his response to your initial question any less accurate or knowledgable. The whole point of this forum as a whole is for us all to share what knowledge we do have with each other. 300+ people looking at this thread and not responding in it is nothing - KVR gets a huge amount of traffic, but really, it also likely means (as zArt mentioned) that your question was answered well. Also, compared to some other forums I've been on; it was answered quite quickly! Also, I would say, based on my experience with KVR, and the amount of knowledge being shared here that the music industry is thriving; especially because we have a forum like KVR. Welcome!
Are there any plugins to listen for and zone in a particular frequency?

Joey222 wrote:In general overall this is a very interesting forum. Comparing this forum to others I have posted in relating to audio, I'm starting to realize and understand why the music industry is in such the decline its in. Its not an industry its more like a fest of people not really knowing anything about audio which I find interesting. Hope no one takes offense but I'm coming to the realization that there are just a lot of people in the audio world that just don't have knowledge or are skills as they should like withing the film industry.
I take zero offence, I suggest doing more in-depth research if you really want to know something. I mean the question posed in the OP is just bizarre and you see it is your own presumptions that are at fault/Extremely flawed Joey222
I highly doubt your questions were at all too technical to answer nor too difficult to answer rather your questions were pretty much ridulous/read as whack. That is presuming they were questions on pretty common knowledge areas yet once again the way you seem to think that people should be able to answer so much in one post whilst interpreting what the hell you are meaning to begin with if your knowledge of audio engineering, mixing and mastering displayed here are anything to go by. Post them here and you'll soon notice if they are as discribed. I was good of michael2 to even bother to attempt to make head nor tails of your question due to your lack of terminology and presumptions. Have you tried gearslutz? TapeOp? SOS? I'd be willing to bet that you would not find a sole knowledgable enough to answer your questions, I encourage you try it, What've you got to lose?Joey222 wrote:I have posted various questions in other forums VERY TECHNICAL relating to audio and was baffled by the responses I got. When ever I posted a question I either got a response that just seemed like the person really didn't know what they were talking about or didn't get a response at all assuming no one had an answer because my question was either too technical or difficult to answer.
So you want to be dictated to? As said if you really want to know something then do the fecking research, Its that simple.Joey222 wrote:I know I'm going off topic here but I feel that this should also be added in. A while back a friend asked me to do a very tedious task relating to video editing and I wasn't able to do it because I didn't have the proper knowledge, however I was able to ask and post questions withing the filming industry and got not only answers but they went out of the way of telling me why "do it this way BECAUSE!". Same thing when I had to learn a whole new language in programming, whenever I posted in forums it just seemed that people knew exactly what they are talking about and they helped me a great deal.
Well KVR Audio is mainly dedicated to virtual instruments but putting it that way is doing the community and all its good members a major disservice. Perhaps if you were to take a dose of your own medicine and again presume nothing until you have done the f!cking research/a little legwork yourself:Joey222 wrote:Here in the audio field, it just seems there a lot of people who don't know what they are talking about and just visit the forum maybe to just answer a few questions that just seems easy to them.
Joey222 wrote:If you want, I would invite anyone to go back and do research and history on me regarding posting in this forum. Please look at my past post so that you wont view me as A TROLL AND HAVE A SENSE THAT I'M JUST A SERIOUS PERSON LOOKING FOR SERIOUS ANSWERS!
300+ people whom are not psychic mind reading machines whom have seen a question without anything more worth adding after it was answered by michael2 just fine already. All you would of got had 300+ people replied I suspect would be alot like this:Joey222 wrote:I just find it weird how 300+ people have viewed this thread and I only get a couple of responses. THAT IS JUST WEIRD TO ME!
Joey222 wrote:Wow this is a very interesting topic altogether. Learning so much about music and how it is produced, my idea of mixing and mastering was totally not the way I imagined. I seriously thought all these years with pro tools and such that the eq's would of automatically done it for you.
The way I pictured it was the engineer would typically want each sound respectively in its own frequency and I assumed that software would have made this process easier. I seriously thought that the engineers were using some kind of tool to automatically isolate or filter the instrument in its own zone and then they used eq to make it sound thicker or thinner. Had no idea that eq was done %100 MANUALLY.
Still a little confused about mastering a bit. I also assumed that mastering was done digitally. My question is, when you are mastering a record is that also done MANUALLY by ear or is that digital. Digital in terms of the mastering tool scanning and looking for each sound and spatially dividing the bands or frequencies in each perspectives zone
Along with alot of less than friendly replies involving these smileys amongst others and pictures -300+ people wrote:Rome wasn't built in a day and the way you pictured things is pretty much f**king ridiculous. If it were that simple then everybody even remotely interested in audio would be a 'Pro', It don't work that way
Come on, Not even having any grasps upon the very basics of equalization and jumping in right at the deep end bringing up mastering is at least four good texts worth of information and a whole lot more. A naive idealistic assumption that a plug-in exists with silver bullet vooddoo code, Operates on anything it is fed equally and spits out an ideally mixed everything without any form of human intervention? You have got to be shitting me

If you want everyone's opinion you can create a poll, although in this particular case wouldn't be useful, i hope you get my point.
snags: silver bullet vooddoo code: SBVoC™ as name for "this plugin".

First of all I never dismissed michael2 at all. In fact I wrote and I quote "Thanks for the info". Did you guys miss that? or were you too busy looking for an opportunity to troll?
Okay I'm not sure if you guys can properly read. But if you do decide to actually read my posts I asked some simple questions regarding mastering and how it works. If you read my initial comments about mastering michael2 said very specifically "i know noooothing about mastering", may I ask how is that answering the question? Yes he gave me some info but I didn't get an answer that I asked about mastering and how one masters a record.
@Dean Aka Nekro
Bro your trolling just screams "I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT, SO I'm JUST GOING TO TELL YOU TO READ ABOUT INFO THAT DOESN'T EXIST BECAUSE IM TOO RETARDED AND BUSY LOOKING FOR AN OPPORTUNITY TO TROLL"
Obviously I have done enough research to know about plugins and how they work, but that wasn't my question. You telling me to go and research is like telling me that "all the info about flying a rocket is online ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS READ ABOUT IT AND YOU'LL BE FLYING IN NO TIME"
Also wanted to add again ASSUMING YOU GUYS DON'T KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY READ, I never assumed that mixing was done magically. If you don't have answers why troll?

Look whatever, Just do not call me "Bro" as I am not your f**king "Bro". If you can not read or rather use your brain to process what I wrote which was far removed from 'trolling' even to point of a pretty good example of how it would of been so easy to 'troll'. So it is simply your problem and I could not give a shit about some ungrateful piece of shit.
Still I will always try and help, I find this plug-in to be rather good when and where it is suitable. I think at the very least it covers a portion of what you are looking for:
