I guess it's ok when the attack is against a company. Not necessarily a person.
All Peter can do is try not to take the insults personally, while trying to assist customers.
I've worked in customer service in the past, so I know how hard of a job this can be. Tech support is probably unique in its dealings as well.

I'd say there's more leeway for insulting a company. I've made some edits to reflect that.

I agree, insulting a company and a person is different. Though it seems at times people get the two mixed up and end up insulting us a people more often than not. It is a unique situation as really all you want to do is help the situation or the person.

I don't feel like insulting is appropriate at any time. A complaint is a means for a person to declare a problem or issue that he or she is unsatisfied with, and would like to have the problem or issue resolved. An insult serves no "positive" useful purpose.
I think you guys take too much crap for as helpful as you try to be.
