I don't think it is the thing for me...I have enough trouble with my eyesight as it is.

However, that being said, at a price of around $329 it is going to be a tough sell for the budget conscious buyer...especially when Google lowered the boom on its own Nexus 7 with 16Gb at $199.....

Foundet! :-)

The song is "Heart and Soul" 1938. The composer was Hoagy Carmichael (also known for "Stardust", "Georgia on My Mind", "The Nearness of You"). The lyrics were by Frank Loesser (the guy that behind the Broadway play "Guys and Dolls"). Frank was a prolific but unappreciated song writer.

I love google!

I've had an iPad since they were introduced. A few months ago I decided I wanted a smaller form factor to take with me for reading, etc. I bought one of the new Kindle Fires...... I wish I had waited. Kindle fire is "okay", but even at $200 it is not a great value. I might add that after you buy the fire for $200, you still have to pay an extra $15 to get most of the ads off. I say most of them because even after paying the extra $15 to remove the ads you still get their "suggestions" continually on the home screen of what Amazon thinks you should buy.

I do like the Fire for it's size, and basic reading, but nothing else.....

i don't think it such a tough sell.....the 7" android tablet i have is just depressing.....

the android experience just feels like such a mess to me.....hit & miss apps, not all compatible with what i have....and don't get me started on music apps and the latency etc

So in review: I'm gonna need an iPad mini, an iPad retina, a new iMac 27" with fusion drive, and an arm mounting system that will allow all of them to be at the same eye level like minority report. Cool! And I'll be broke for months ;)

Yes, the 7" format (DVD case) is ideal. I have the Blackberry Playbook of a simular size. Retail price of that is just below $200 :-P
Some might say that there are more apps available for iOs. Could be true, but what I needed / searched for I just found in the Blackberry AppWorld store. Often even for free!

I guess the format is almost 8" in the end (7,9") which makes a difference, doesn't it?

Looks very promising and might become a good "to-go" solution. Here in germany everything tends to get more and more a "to-go" tendency. iPad mini - seems to be rather smart so far.

Right, the decline of Apple because they're filling a hole in their product line. :?

Did you buy everything Steve said at face value, or didn't you see the spin?

Well, so far my experience has not been as depressing as yours but I did point out that it was the budget conscious consumer that might take a closer look at the alternative than just Apple's iPad Mini.

Then again, my tablet is kind of an odd duck in the crowd...WebOS 2.1 here... :hihi:

Actually, to be fair to Dave, I am surprised that Apple did not go after that part of the market earlier

I doubt, though, that Apple will fall on it's tuckus or decline as it were...

thats not the case. Its the case that they realised everyone is buying small tablets and they want to cash in on it, but as usual the apple product is already behind in spec and way over priced.

never bought anything he's said, or made.

But there are basically no music making apps for Android, the only decent one is Caustic 2 :help:

Just saw a clip of Orbital live, I think Paul Hartnoll uses 5 or so iPads on stage as interfaces, a smaller iPad thus means less for him to carry :D

I dunno anybody using Android tablets like that?
