No, I don't think that you are saying that in particular. I would, however, also like to hear opinions on the other plugins - mainly because those others are new too and the Quads are very cool and sound great, the British Channel may have a GUI people don't like but it is an excellent plugin and should also have a seat at the table as far as what people think of its SOUND... Not to change the subject but simply to add to it (nobody accused me of that, but just wanted to get that off my chest too because I'm really eager to hear about the other plugins too)

Is there any way for new White 2A buyers to get the older "clean" White 2A?

The new version is a full install that doesn't replace the previous so they will still be there (and still on your projects using them). Personally, if I want a clean optical compressor I'll use our red one thoughAudioGuy720 wrote:Is there any way for new White 2A buyers to get the older "clean" White 2A?

Thanks a lot for the info.... really appreciate itFunkybot's Evil Twin wrote:Don't be nervous about using them, they're just a different flavor of the old version. In some cases the new versions might work better, in some cases, maybe the cleaner old versions will work better. And I'm by no means an authority, nor did I test this on a whole lot of program material.kelvyn wrote:@funkybot
Thanks a lot for the in depth... very interesting what you describe. I've already updated and although it went very smoothly I'm a little nervous about using the new versions of the 76 & the LA after reading your post... How Is it possible to instantiate the old versions of Black & White?
You should still have both versions of the plugin installed. The TRacks CS Black76 is the new one, while TRacks Black76 is the old one. It's the "CS" in the name that denotes which is which.

We should have put a switch on the Black and White! But it would have to be brightly-colored (all puns intended). Go big or go home.

I meant if you previously didn't own version 3.5.1, purchased CS version 4.0? I don't have the installer so I don't know if my CS serial # will authorize the old version or not.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:The new version is a full install that doesn't replace the previous so they will still be there (and still on your projects using them). I do own the Opto but I think the LA-2A has a program dependent release function. That's the big part of its magic. The Opto has a release setting...I'm not sure how its release behavior works.

Part of the magic, I can see that of course and I was being at least partially cheeky (under the false assumption you had the previous version of T-RackS, so I'm really sorry about that assumption).
Good question, I don't think you'd have the previous releases like other plugins (including T-RackS 3) because this is a new install all its own. I have to say that at the moment, the real answer is no they would not be available to someone in your particular situation.

Ummmm........Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: these plugins should have been a replacement for the existing 32-bit versions. Now, when I open an old project, I either have to keep the 32-bit version installed for whenever I may need to recall an old project, or I'll have to somehow find every project I used CSR on and replace it manually and resave.
When doing a simple port from 32 to 64-bit, the transition should be seamless for the user IMO. Disappointed they chose to handle it this way.

OK guys the updated CS Black 76/White 2A are definitely doing SOMETHING. I've made some screen captures using BlueCat's FreqAnalyst and a 997 Hz tone to show you what's going on in the fequency domain:
http://opentil10.com/csblackwhite/
Pressing the Off button underneath the Black 76's attack knob puts it in amplifier only mode (no compression). You can clearly see with the older Black 76 version that its amp stage is doing nothing. The spectrum looks like a pure 997 Hz sine wave.
I didn't bother making more than two Black 76 comparison screenshots because that would be pointless.
On the White 2A there isn't a preamp only option but you can see that there is a lot of complex harmonic generation going on. I probably should re-do these because I wasn't ensuring the 997 Hz peak but you get the gist. There isn't static harmonics being generated the controls do change how things are affected.
In order to see the effects of the different controls I used ReaEQ's gain to boost the signals cleanly.
So anyway kudos to IK Multimedia for not backing down on their promise. Every time someone would ask whether amplifier models would be implemented they would ignore the question. But they pulled through! How accurate are they? Someone else do a shoot out it's Friday and time to party hahahaha!

Haha no problem. I'll just hope for a "clean switch" maybe in the future as you suggested. If not then I'll just be happy with it.

TWO ponies. I'd post an old "Honeymooners" polo ponies joke but I'm afraid that would really make me feel OLD.contrary wrote:Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:I'm going to ignore that request. Dang it, technically I guess I just acknowledged it. ****!
