By itself it will make no sound at all. I hope you sound good playing it. Have you played guitar before?

An expert can pick up a beginner-level instrument and bring tears of joy to everyone's eyes. An amateur can pick up a $10,000 instrument and trigger tears for other reasons.

Unless they also use $20 picks and a $150 nail trimmer. Those will make anyone sound good from the first strum. :-}

(Not sure whether that's a tug at my leg. Poe's Law, anyone?)

I started on acoustics back in the 60's. was a folk junkie... owned a few including a Framus 12-string. Then I progressed to electric and never looked back. I say learn on an acoustic to get precise with your fingering of chords, etc. Then buy an electric. I'm a Les Paul kinda guy since the 70's but I just bought an Epiphone DOT 335 (big Hollowbody). I can still dial in some sweet acoustic sounds when I want.
Now the proud owner of an avid 11 Rack, Running Pro Tools 10.3.3 - for me it's heaven!

I'd hit that! I'm "electric" since the 70's but before that was a "Folkie" and always wanted a Martin...
