I didn't stop there. Next versions will be even more advanced. In version 1.2 I plan add options Bank/Program change for tracks and midi files export.

Yes, the sequencer can playback patterns and songs in background mode. You need to set "Settings" - "Program options" - "Play in background".

Well, maybe not so great..
Bought the app and it has a lot of potential but seems buggy.
Tried running a simple sequence with the top 4 lines going to midi channel 1 to Sunrizer.
Setup the next line to go to midi channel 2 to Addictive synth. When I pushed play Only Sunrizer played. I found this strange because when I was editing the Addictive cell with the sequencer keyboard it played.
When I minimized Midi Sequencer to look at Addictive it seems the sequencer hung up on the last notes in the pattern and played only them. When I go back to Midi sequencer it keeps doing the same thing. i have to go back to Sunrizer and hit the midi panic button.
Suggestion...put a midi panic button somewhere on the main page. Also, a play/stop button always on the main page would be nice. Not a lot of fun having to menu hop to get to the transport when you're working on a sequence.
I looked for a manual but there isn't one yet that is completed, hopefully soon. I tried doing similar setups using other apps : Animoog, Wavegenerator, Alchemy, etc. Still same issues. I have not tried assigning different patterns to different synths. It doesn't seem you should have to do that, but who knows?
Currently using an iPad 2 with 6.1 OS.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please post them!

You are right, some applications can interrupt sequencer playback in background. Now it's fixed. Please wait new version 1.2 that will be released in about a couple of weeks.
I can recommend to start all sound applications first, then sequencer. In this case sequencer will not be interrupted and will work after switching apps.
Also, hot operation buttons are good idea I guess to add this in new version (or version after).
