Well if the vocoder doesn't contain a synth of it's own and is only a filter bnk then you need to hook up a synth of your choice and whatever target audio you want to mangle.
Personally I'm very satisfied with the Image-Line vocoder. I think it sounds absolutely fantastic.
For a different flavor of vocoder I love the one Tone2 built into ElectraX.
But if they can truly nail the old Roland VP sound then I'm all for it!
Cheers!

I haven't got any installed atm(got vocodex by i.l.), when i tried i found it confusing(i did get it to work), i bought a plugiator and that has a vocoder built in that was way to use and sounded good, so never tried vocodex ever again when i got my new pc...so i don't really know if it is difficult to me now...maxxxter wrote:yes i am and i don't find it cumbersome at all; place a vocoder as an insert, open a midi track, play!breakmixer wrote:you're not cubase then...maxxxter wrote:one man's PITA is another man's two clicks.breakmixer wrote:
i.e. vst vocoders in the past have been a pita to set-up, not plug and play...will this be a better approach? if it is what blah blah etc...
what's so difficult with that?

The VP330 tip looks pretty good looking at the user list at VSEGamma-UT wrote:Cyclone. Not sure which vocoder though.Numanoid wrote: Have Tangerine Dream used much vocoding in their music?

My VP 330 is also a wonderfull string machine, with a divider per octave engine, that gives it its very particular character, that you cant achieve with samples, or standard analog strings engines.

They could have used VP330's choirs and strings more than its vocoding.Numanoid wrote:

I'm pretty psyched for anything new coming out of XILS.
And happy to hear there may be an upcoming group buy for Oxium!

The only sure thing is that Oxium 1.5 will be released very soon, with a lot of goodies, new features, enhanced ergonomy of the masks, enhanced GUI etc etc.
As for the jawdropping promo, it wont happen anymore. Sorry you missed it Theo.

Very true, plus actually you can use whatever signal you want to feed the input of a vocoder. It can give some very surprising results, from ultra smooth to really weird.himalaya wrote:They could have used VP330's choirs and strings more than its vocoding.Numanoid wrote:

as a vocoder probably not among the best of the analogs ...but the choir and strings on it are AMAZING.
dunno what the secret to them are..whether the chorus or else...but it has a fantastic charm.
