It was just the once, while a was flipping through chords in EZkeys, although it does become unresponsive temporarily, sometimes, when I load a new project with multiple VSTi's, but I think that might be just because it's busy loading samples, etc.
Sometimes it takes a long time to load samples
Studio One 2 crashed. Help?

Just to update, it looks like the crashing bit is from EZkeys. Not sure what the deal is with the intermittent slow load times, but I'm going to bet it has to do with EZkeys, too,

I hear you. As a purely anecdotal observation it does seem to me that the people complaining of regular crashes do seem to be on Mac. No idea if that observation is meaningful or not. It's also seems to be the case (curiously enough) that all the of guys doing official videos and live streams and live recording sessions and all that from PreSonus are also Mac heads, seeming to prefer Mac over Win and getting along pretty well.TheoM wrote:and sad.

I mostly use Live but lately I've been using S1 for final mixing & working on theme music for a local radio show. I moved from windows to Mac a few months ago (I just don't gel well with windows especially since getting into Linux, but that's another story). When i started beta testing at v 1.00 i had 2 different machines to the two i have now. And i was on leopard i'm sure.
Now one on snow, the other on mountain, and all 4 machines and all (official release) revisions of studio one software on mac from the start, have crashed on me on a consistent basis like no other software i have used before.
Well a joy to use apart from the very frequent S1 crashes. Ableton live's crashed a couple of times too but no more than it would've done on windows before. The good thing about mac is you can reopen a crashed app instantly, if there was a crash on win 7 I had logout & in again. S1 wasn't completely stable on win 7 for me either but nowhere near as bad as on mac. One of the projects I started in S1 recently just won't open at all, it just crashes immediately after opening it.
As much as I like S1, I'm not going back to windows for it. I can't believe how powerful my wee i7 Mac mini is & I won't be ditching it anytime soon. If S1 doesn't get sorted soon on osx I think I'll have to try to sell it & just stick with live & reaper.

FWIW I bought S1 last year (OS X) to see if it would replace Live for me. In terms of stability, the only problem I had was with the VST of Aalto, but the AU was fine. Apart from that, I don't remember any stability probs with S1 on OS X.
(It turns out that for me S1 wouldn't replace Live and I have no need for 2 DAWS so I sold it, but I really did like S1. As has been stated, different peeps have different DAW experiences)

I always feel myself being pulled back to protools, especially for the strength of the editing tools. The idea of using a wrapper for vsts always seemed iffy to me. After my marathon performance tests that only concluded a few weeks back, i also determined it's the lowest performing host on OSX in various ways (i am posting results of this months of testing on various hosts sometime soon) by a country mile (besides reason which was the lowest when using RE's, otherwise amongst the highest).

it's *amazing* software and i only hope one day they take the mac version seriously regarding stability and performance.
apart from all the crashes, i have a major gripe against S1 because there is no easy way to cut and paste tracks between songs.
Given all the crashes, i tend to use a clean song fequently for jotting down new things. I discovered way too late when it was time to bring things together what a pain it was going to be.
I need to find a new DAW. I'm not jumping into logic until I know they plan on moving it forward. Digital Performer?
