But you can't import a spectrogram into Edison, just export, right? Being able to bring it back in is crucial though if you want to do Iris-style editing. Plus it's not a Sampler, so when you're done you'd have to load your work into a sampler. At that point you're much better off using a dedicated tool like Photosounder with a sampler.
I'd still recommend Harmor over anything else. It reads sample slice points, drag and drop samples (even large ones), numerous image file types (not just .png like Alchemy), paste from image clipboard, slow down parts of the sample, key map etc. It's maybe not that intuitive at first but at least the functionality is there. Alchemy is just as rudimentary for spectral as Iris IMO, just at the other end of the scale (painting versus masking).

what sucks if i remember correctly is that you always have to check for stereo options, so it's faked stereo isnt it? harmor imports mono?wasi wrote:But you can't import a spectrogram into Edison, just export, right? and if i select something in harmor can i let it be timestretched to the host tempo like my example?

I think so, but that's pretty standard. I don't think Iris does either. Also, it's a synth not a sampler, so what comes out is not really 'fake' stereo.Caine123 wrote:what sucks if i remember correctly is that you always have to check for stereo options, so it's faked stereo isnt it? harmor imports mono?wasi wrote:But you can't import a spectrogram into Edison, just export, right? But Harmor has two parallel engines (A and B), so you can import one left and one right channel if you really must. Double the work though.
Yes. You just do your thing with the sample and then make an envelope (in the ENV tab) for 'image time offset' and set it to 'Tempo' (the radio button below the envelope window). A grid should appear showing beats and bars, draw your envelope and it will play slower at low BPM and faster at higher BPM.and if i select something in harmor can i let it be timestretched to the host tempo like my example?
Also check out these, especially the top two on Harmor:

i dont understand how it works with edison, for example i wanna take my example from the first post and want it synced?abstractcats wrote:Indeed, Edison does have time stretching. Click the wrench Icon, look close to the bottom, its under "Time" and says "Time Stretching/Pitch Shifting"Numanoid wrote:Maybe Image Line's edison can be of interest? You will probably never hear back about stretching in Iris, cause it's just a spectral filtering tool operating in the frequency domain, not time domain. That's why, so if I were you I wouldn't count on that and focus my effort and energy on another spectral tool capable of stretching (working time domain tool) like many other have suggested.Caine123 wrote:cause you hit on deaf ears over at izotope. when i email camelaudio they always have an open ear.TheoM wrote:why? cause you don't like iris so much?

I use a Mac, but as a g200kg fan always wanted to try this. Out of curiosity, how does his SpectroBits stack up?
