Thus said, i chose hardware which is supposed to work out of the box though, also the hardware compatibility has gotten much better, though.
Yup, thank Ubuntu and also the kernel developers for that user-friendliness (many of whom are employed by RedHat, Intel and AMD).

Yeah, I'm on a mission to change that by starting an entirely new ecosystem that isn't centered around crap-tastic failed standards like Jack and LV2... But like you said, I'm a professional Linux developer who writes audio software as a hobby in his spare time, so it's going to take me a while, considering I'm not leading a team of 10 developers who are all working 40+ hours a week on it...

I've thought about trying to crowd-fund my efforts and quit my job to work on this full-time, but I'd have to raise several years worth of money at my currently salary to make it worthwhile to quit the job I have now... Then if I were to also hire other developers, it would get **really** expensive... To hire myself full-time and 2 other top-notch audio developers(like, the kind of people that have Steinberg, NI, etc... on their resume) to work full-time on this for 3 years would run about $1 million... I'm not convinced that there's $1 million worth of interest out there, and raising $10,000 isn't going to do anything but help me pay my car loan off faster
