In the sense of importing and transforming sampled material, sort of vaguely yes - but Iris uses spectral resynthesis and Frame uses granular synthesis, or straight up sample playback depending on how you use it.

The snapshots (presets) are distinct from the samples - you can have multiple presets using the same sample.
Unison is an interesting idea - simply bump up the number of voices in the instrument's function palette tab, and set the min / max to a factor of the voice count. Here for example, each note you play will have four voices. Play with the "spread" control too, which determines the amount of detune between unison voices.
Thanks for the kind words on the GUI. I worked hard to make it functional as well as pretty.
Wow, thanks so much, just watched the vid - excellent stuff, clear and very professional. Looking forward to trying it now and creating some instruments! Will also try to hook it up with the android app touchdaw for some touchscreen fun. Ah, great. Just out of curiosity, have you ever seen how fourtet uses Cool Edit live?! You should get in touch.
I have to say though - your implementation is way better, is far more musical, and actually has more features.
I tried out the unison! Works like a charm. Must find out how to add a mono/legato macro to use the unison properly - voices add up pretty fast!
Last thing - Is there any way to reduce the "tremolo" effect of the ensemble? i.e. on longer lenght divisions of a sample (even with lfo freq and lfo amp at min values) the fade out at the end of the loop is quite long, so there doesnt seem a way to loop/seemlessly sustain the stuff the loop bracket. Using some sort of crossfading. Reverb helps a little to stop the end fades becoming a little unnatural. But it might simply be a feature/result of the way the ensemble achieves its main purpose!

I have to check out the Four Tet video... I've heard stuff about his techniques before. I think you can do similar things in FL Edison. And the media browser in Reaper too, though you can't route audio from it to a track.jumpercable wrote:~Pd~ wrote:Jumpercable - I just did a video that covers adding samples and embedding the sample in the ensemble (or not) -

Mono / legato - will think about adding that.
To make the looping more seamless, turn down the "smooth" control. You only have to turn it up until it just doesn't click. Higher smoothness settings are for more paddy kinds of patches.
