@OP

- what style(s) of music would you be using this for?
- do you already have Zebra 2?
- do you generally design your own sounds, use presets, or somewhere in between?

Go to a hotel and get both.

Both have demos (yes, even Nexus has one for 16 hours of USAGE - I've been using it for a week and still have like 12 hours left). I like the idea of Nexus, but as I've gotten into it, I've wanted the ability to change the sounds more. Also, the core library is VERY oriented to EDM and to be honest, I haven't been all that impressed with the presets (quality and sound) so far...their demos for the expansions sound really amazing though, so who's to say...

Having a TON of fun with my new Virus TI2 Polar though...

Now that's just showing off :lol:
It's all about the wavelets. I dream of the perfect additive synthesis.

Time to roll out Mr Obvious

Mr Obvious Says, "Nexus is sample based, Zebra is a modular synth, comparing them is moot (of little or no practical value or meaning)."

¡Warning, PipeDream Ahead!
If/When Zebra includes the use of samples you can buy all Manuel's sample sets and basically have Nexus on steriods ;) (The combination would probably cost you less than Nexus Complete)

Nexus = $299
Nexus Complete = $2,949
Vengeance SamplePack Complete = $2,259

Nexus Complete =~ Nexus stuffed with Vengeance samplepacks

Or you could buy Zebra2 and nexus2 load them inside a chainer plugin. :D

Here's one aspect that no one has mentioned in this thread: Nexus2 -> ilok dongle and 6GB of disk space. Zebra2 -> serial key and <100MB of disk space.

If you're worried about the CPU consumption of Zebra just freeze the track and add zebrify. Bam, instant Nexus "synthesis".
