I have never used the Player version myself but it seems you could freely assign 8 synth parameters to the knobs.

yes you can freely assign 8 crucial parameters like envelopes segments, cut off, rez etc, to the knobs. So its much more than the average player.

The PKBII player can also import the add on soundsets made for the PolyKB II. All in all, its very easy and affordable to have it with around 700 1rst class presets in it, tweak them easily to adapt to context, and it is a synth especially targeted for those who prefer to play music than program their own presets, or want to benefit of the unique PKBII analog warmth and wait they are more funded to get the full version.

How about for us guys with the CM version can we load in presets from others or is there a benefit to buying the player version. If there is I got a new item to put on my wishlist.

No the CM version cant load external soundbanks, has less presets on board than the Player ( Player has more than 250 iirc ), less slots for freely assignable parameters to control ( Player has 8 slots ), and iirc less modulations targets.

PolyKB II player is more than very affordable on Xils site, and it benefits of the same pristine sound engine than its big brother. You can also update to the PolyKB II full version at any time, and with a discount price. Last, of course its only protected by a serial number.

LOL . . . I hear ya, man! I often write "mini rants" in my reviews about C/R and/or dongle protections (both pros & cons), but PolyKB is a fantastic, and I do mean FAN-TAS-TIQUE VA soft synth.

The ONLY DONGLE I own. I hate them!!!

But...

the ":love:" for the Xils stuff is stronger.

I've been listening to the demos of PolyKB and I must admit it has my attention. But I hate hate hate dongles. Especially I would use it for live gigging and dongle is PITA. The player version could work for gigging, but the question I have is, if I buy both them and use the full version at home, can I open my created presets on the player version for gig time?

Yes its possible. Thats why Xils-Lab had offered a grace period for all PolyKB II owners to get the player version for free, because some users use only the player for live situations, or just to muse around on their laptops while beeing on hollydays, etc.

I know, I know . . . this thread is old, but I had occasion to listen to the PolyKB II recently . . . MAN, for classic analogue sounds, it's right up there with DIVA, IMHO.

In case you missed the review, maybe you'll want to take a peek at it. The review videos highlight many of the built-in presets/sounds.
