I originally posted what I consider to be a negative post, but I decided to delete it and stop being negative.

Perhaps we should not belittle the OP and let his product speak for itself.

On a positive note, at least he is creating new product(s), whether or not they are for everyone is a matter of opinion and finance.

Kudos to the devs for keeping this genre alive and well.

Ah yes ... I didn't see that. I've amended my signature to fall in line with those guidelines. And while doing it realized I've been posting here for 13 years. How time flies ...
It's 2015 already? I must have slept longer than I thought :)

Getting a bit sad, this thread. I wonder where this urge to tell MacQ how wrong he is comes from. I didn't see him writing anything offensive, or did I overlook something? (And I didn't see him asking for business advice, either). I wouldn't buy this instrument for 249 bucks either, but I don't see the point in telling-off the producer so much.
Come on, that bit of exaggerated marketing bla bla is not actually THAT offensive, is it? And asking for a high price for a product isn't either. It's an offer, if you think it is overpriced, leave it be. No reason to spoil the fun (that might have been) in here. (And yes, telling someone that his product is only valuable to himself is definitely spoiling the fun. And that's not a matter of "freedom-of-opinion", it is simply rude).

Just my two cents, of course.

To be fair, he has not ignored feedback, on the contrary has taken feedback to heart and adjusted the price quite a bit. It was released at $850. Everyone at V.I.Control said that was way overpriced (and it likely didn't sell anything the first couple days), so he reduced it to $250 with a money back guarantee. And was quite humble about the mistake in pricing.

Personally, there's nothing here for me, but I've witnessed that he's been pretty responsive to feedback and if the product still isn't priced appropriately, I'm sure he'll learn from the experience, add new content etc.

Haha ... oh my math. It's been a long week. 11 years. :-)

I don't mind the criticism, to be honest. This is nothing compared to a client who rejects a score, for example ... at least here I get repeated opportunity to redeem myself. :-D

As mentioned, this is an offer I'm presenting, not an ultimatum, and certainly not something I'm forcing on anyone. I've got several 3rd-party reviews in-progress, and despite my personal convictions on the value and awesomeness of UNDERSCORE, it will ultimately be up to other people to either reify my opinion or demonstrate that I've drunk the proverbial Kool-Aid. :-D

If you have questions about the product itself, or would like to see something demonstrated more fully, let me know, and I'd be happy to do a blog video for you.

Cheers!

Nobody here has knocked the product. In fact, historically, KVR users only complain about prices when it concerns products they might actually have an interest in. In that light, I'd consider the price criticism a positive sign.

I feel that a video should be created that truly showcases the awesome functionality as the OP intends.

Perhaps a start to finish tutorial on a real-world project that this products was created to handle to make life easier for the composer with true deadlines and caseloads.

If a full cue was created in realtime that showed how indispensible this product is in the creation process, it would go a long way to justify the pricing to most KVRians.

I'm working on exactly that. Stay tuned!

Moved the party to the Instruments forum ... UNDERSCORE is SO much more than just samples! New video and audio demos ... and a FAQ to answer some questions.

Hey all, sorry to dig up an old thread here, but it seemed worthwhile as people wanted to see Underscore offered at a lower price.

We've managed to secure a deal on Underscore at 90% off on VSTBuzz which will run for 2 weeks. Its currently €19.99 instead of the normal price of €230.99 (or $250) :)

Hope that will make a few of you happy

Man, that is quite a discount. Particularly when you consider it was initially priced at $1000.

Did anyone ever try this? I guess it's worth a go at this price.

Here's an overview of v1.5.

I might jump on this. Looks pretty interesting for €20.

I think that while the initial price was too high, the current sale price is too low. Considering how you can load your own samples as well, just the engine alone is worth the price.
