x2 for Mono/Poly.

Great for retro sounds, and you get a lot for what you pay.
Indeed! I was between it and Retrologue (the same price) but I liked more Mono/Poly. It is a very good synth if someone takes the time to learn it.

I was surprised of Mojito and how it is easy to have nice simple patches with it! I coupled it with ARPG8R ($11) and it is now my to go couple for a quick simple ARP :-)

Alexandersondura wrote:Hey guys, any suggestions for a plugin synth that sounds similar to the real thing? Don't really want to spend my money on a real synthesizer just yet (obviously). I'm currently using DCAM Synth Squad and Sylenth1. I get pretty nice sounds using them but was just wanting to know what other people use apart from those two. Thanks (:
DCAM is a "real" synthesizer, it's excellent. I would suggest that you get Valhalla Vintage Verb or use the "Dark" algorithms in Valhalla Room on DCAM before buying yet another synthesizer.

Maybe you're thinking of a specific analog synthesizer, though. Any particular recording that demonstrates the kind of "analog" you have in mind?

Imo SQ8L's filter is the only vsti filter that actually does have the feel and sound of a real analogue one.

But real analog filters sound and feel very different from each other.

Of course, but having used many analogue synths over the years the SQ8L filter is the only one that struck me as 'feeling' like i was using a real analogue filter.

Don't tell the people who think a softsynth's filter needs zero delay feedback to sound real. :P

I grok what you're saying.

Sonic Projects OP-X Pro II

Very analog and organic sounding. It would be a tough call for me between the OP-X Pro II and Diva. They are both warm and awesome.

It depends a lot on how you use the filter. Many sound analogue when used gently. I've used SQ8L, and while I think that it's an interesting plugin, neither it, nor the original from which it's based, sound particularly good to my ears. I think it's useful, but I would never pick it over Diva, ACE, Reaktor (certain ensembles), or even several of arturia's plugins for a definitive analog sound.

I don't find this surprising, I wouldn't pick out SQ8L as being a particularly "analogy" plugin, but then again, the original wasn't particularly "analogy" either. It has, IMO, a lackluster filter and digital oscillators. It has a flexible architecture, certainly.

Yeah I wondered why OP-X isn't mentioned more often. They did a real amazing job emulating the original.

All Xils-Lab Synths, Arturia SEM V, NI Monark, Korg LC Collection, ImpOscar, Dcam, Vaz.

For the Xils-Lab Oxium I made a patchbank replicating the Roland Jupiter 8 factory library, but more than words, I also made around 60 A/B comparisons clips between Oxium and a REAL Jupiter 8, playing the same phrases.

And you can listen to all those clips here "Oxium VS Jupiter 8" ( audio clips are located at the bottom of the page )and make your own idea on Oxium, analog synths, etc, etc.
