Well Bert, you have EDM, which is Eletronic Dance Music, as you know, and you have EMD which is Electronic Music Dancer, which you now know, and you have emdlover100 which is the hundreth person who loves the Electronic Music Dancers. Pretty simple right?

Appreciate the replies , I was planning a trip to try out headphones in store but nowhere in glasgow seems to do beyerdynamics , although I could test other brands .
Also heard good things about the shure srh 1840s although perhaps a tad more than I was wanting to spend

My personal choice was Audio Technika ATH-M40FS Headphones. They are a bit more than $100 though, I paid around £80 which is about $130.

The FS versions are designed to be general purpose Studio Headphones and have a flat frequency response for an uncoloured sound. They're also capable of very listening levels without distorting, just in case you'd like to go deaf early.

I think that you should go for the Sony 7506, I don't think you can get much better under 100

I have the M50 from AT, very good sound for the price, the only problem is that the cushioning both on the cups and the headband is falling apart after just two years and little use, nor do I have hair made of steel or anything

I am looking for new headphones as well, but given my experience with their high-end product, I don't think I will buy that brand again.

I just bought the audio technica m40fs for $50 on amazon. Love them.

The headband will last long (looks more solid than on the M50), but the cushioning of the cups will not last very long, it looks very soft and thin.

I wonder if the Sennheiser HD201 would be enough for me. I have seen it used even by pros in the studio, although it is rather cheap...
