Tips on making a multisampled instrument from my double bass

Finally started cutting the giant files into notes, got another silly question - what should I do for mapping all the scratchy noises? Do a separate SFZ file for the noises, or include them in the "regular" arco one, mapped to keys above the highest note that I sampled? Which would be more convenient?

For performance, it's probably easier if they're all in the one file -- that way they'll all just be there. How many octaves is the main arco zone? If you can fit everything into a 47note controller keyboard range, you'd likely make people happy.
Another alternative is to use a keyswitch to switch over to the noises and back -- I've not done this but AIUI it's designed for this situation.

Got 46 notes in the arco zone. So with 49 keys there's just enough left for keyswitches for pizz/arco/noises. And I have a 49-key controller myself. I think we have the answer, then.
And, in other news, I somehow forgot to record the lowest velocity layer for the open G note. LOL. Will fix that tomorrow.

It's been more than a month, but I've started making the SFZ file for the arco notes in SFZed now. Best part: I put "c1", "eb1" etc. in the file names, and SFZed automatically picked all those up correctly. I just set the high and low notes for each region, got it to load in Sforzando and make sounds.
I still need to clean up the start and end points of the samples, map the velocity layers and round robins, and then deal with the noise and pizz samples too. So lots of work left, but damn, it's a funny and awesome feeling using a keyboard to play samples that actually sound like me playing my bass.
I also want to layer some of the samples of Cs at various octaves and dynamics to make one huge super-bass note and then resynthesize that in Harmor.
Might have something worth sharing soon, at least for the arco part.

If anybody wants to test this and give me some advice, PM me for a download link. It's a 250 MB zip file. Once I get this refined, I'll make the final version public.
Got arco, pizz and noises ready to test. I still want to tweak the mappings, especially with the velocity layers, move some of the noises around so they're more logically organized, and make an SFZ file with the keyswitches - right now it's one file with arco and arco noises and one with pizz and pizz noises. I kinda get the feeling that the pizz noises will be the most useful part to most people.
I also started making Harmor patches by layering a bunch of Cs together then resynthesizing the result. That's a lot of fun. Might record more samples with various articulations and more rosin on the bow just for that.
