That song and Tangerine too!
I always like Led Zepplin, but heard it from my friends, radio, and jukeboxes so much - I don't own any Zep records... No, I lied - the one with the Hindenberg going BOOM on the front, cause it had the Immigrant Song on it.
But some of my friends and school chums were SERIOUSLY into Zepplin with the freakin logos on their jean jackets and all the 'hidden meanings' and all that shit - I just liked their music.
But was it In Through The Out Door - and you take the brown paper bag off, it's a B&W cover. BUT, if you gently brush water onto the cover, it becomes colour! THAT'S PRETTY FREAKIN' COOL!

Yeah, Physical Graffiti (Down By The Seaside) came out the same year I was 17 and had just moved from the midwest to Jax Beach, Florida - great time to move - right before my senior year of high school - major upheavality.
Long story short, that song and the Who's "Sea and Sand" off Quadrophenia (hell, the whole album) resonated very strongly with me then and still does now. But of Graffiti and Quadrophenia as albums, those two songs got woven permanently into my DNA during that period. I can't hear either of them without being instantly transported back there.
Oh well, enough "Rambling On"

My top 5:
Zep 1 - 4 and Physical Graffiti
Too much good stuff to narrow it down to just five tunes.

Hallo ledies
So everyone knowing me a little bit, and my music, and my taste .. what Led Zeppelin albums would you recommend to me to get into the whole Zeppelin thingie?
I know my day will come when i´ll say "Wowowowow! What a great band!", but it hasnt yet.
And this thread inspires me to get closer.
cheers,
and thanks in advance.

Communication Breakdown
Heartbreaker.
Lemon Song (anyone heard Hendrix's BBC session doing Killing Floor btw? awesome....)
Black Dog.
Dazed and Confused.
Great band. Great riffs. and anyone who says Jimmy Page was a crap guitarist needs to remove their head from their arse.
Led Zep bbc sessions is a great buy if you don't already own it. Lots of early live work, including sort of 17mins worth of dazed and confused...

10 Years Gone
Since I've been Loving You - now that's what I call soloing!
Gallows Pole
In the Evening
Intro & first verse of Whole Lotta Love
I just realised two things; We're old farts round these here parts and - did anyone say 'Stairway to Heaven'? Discuss.

you know, the one with that stairway song. lot of acoustic stuff on that lp.
I lost my copy somewhere through the years and I've been longing to hear it again, so I think I'll see about picking it up again today.

Everybody is too embarred to mention Stairway
I'll be one to admit I like the song
. It has become the cliche of the century however. It was the song with most radioplay in the 70's/80's and has been quoted in every magazine in the world. Led Zep themselves refused to let the song be issued as a single just because of not wanting to "commercialise" it.
For anyone wanting to get into LEd Zep, just get the remaster CD box. All the great songs mentioned are there. My favourite album was the very first. The sound is poor however. That boomy bass sound has also become too copied. Zep's great value was that they (or more specifically Jimmy Page) created a new sound that we called "underground" at the time. Listening to it now, it does not sound new anymore.
I got the latest DVD (don't remember the name as I'm at work now). I'm very disappointed. Only love the 2nd DVD witht he live accoustic show with Jimmy on gtr and John Paul on mandolin.

I was never a big Zep fan myself but I love Kashmir.
I really like 'Love Spreads' from the Stone Roses' 'Second Coming' and that sounds a lot like Led Zep though.
