I liked that with the new instrument rack, your track "sees" the preset name instead of the instrument name. I work with multiple instances of kontakt and this is gonna be great.

Also, plugins doesnt seem to hide behind the mixer anymore.

Rest of the new features might be nice, but i will not use them at all, i hope there will be fixes for people with problems.

But instead of keeping it at one place, let's open like 10 new threads. :tu:

So far, from the update only one particular thing is interesting me.
Instrument (t)rack 2.0: Supports multi-outputs and multi-inputs, and merges instrument tracks with the Instrument Rack
Which was about darn time!

Question:
Does that mean the instrument rack was dropped now? Or just the Instrument Track being updated in general?

Though saving track controls (Quick Controls) and the Inspector got a slight update as well. Could be intersting - if the programmers didn't break it.

Another Questions:

Where is the enhancement and bugfix list?
Was the stupid Insert Handling (Overlay Buttons for both EQ and inserts) dropped? (amongst other things, the higest FR by users!)
WHat about backwards compatibility? For example: if I create something in Halion Sonic SE2 (C7.5) but load the Project in Cubase LE7.0 With HSSE1?

Everything else: Loopmash, new "sample content", Magneto II, already VST Connect SE2, Groove Agent SE4 - I don't need that, I have my own VST/VSTi. Why?!

So what about the bugs and the FRs?

From current presentation, it doesn't look to me as if Steinberg listened to any FR other than the Instrument Channel. It is just a paid update for content again, nothing that actually matters (fixing bugs, porting feature requests, etc). So if you want to update from 7.5, you pay 250EUR alltogether - for barely anything. Those who want to stick to C7.0x now know "hay - bugfixes? pft... buy C7.5". Wow.

I knew that I don't need to expect much, but this is even worse than 6.5.
So word of advice, Steinberg, drop that interim payment BS!

People don't want to shell out 50bucks every year for VST/VSTi they don't even want or need(!). You still didn't understand the concept of "Damage Control".

Oh and... the grace period shrinked down to 21 days as well. Okay, cool.

Furthermore - what about Cubase AI/LE/Elements in terms of 7.5?
When will users see that?

So much marketing hype yet again, and such a great lack of information.
Its you jumping on and bashing Cubase all of the time? RELAX man or get a different DAW. You are not the only one, who use Cubase. But your bashing is annoying as hell.

After 6.5, cubase 6 was still updated so i believe it will the same for c7. I have to agree an updated freeze (among other things) would have been good instead of plug addons... But anyway, i'll update .

Stop these quote pyramids, people. Please!

Read this and get off my back - thank you very much.

These were all valid questions. If you're annoyed, don't read it.

If I got that right, v7.06 got a hotfix for Mavericks (OSX), so that's 7.065 or something. Chances are the "bugfixes" go up to .08 for the "core" version, and to about .55 for C7.5, if they are fast until C8 hits (which I know expect around August/September 2014, like last time).

But...
C7.0 users won't have access the "real" enhancements:
TrackVersions: For creating, renaming and managing parallel variations of tracks
Track visibility: Shows only the tracks you want to see in the Project window
Instrument (t)rack 2.0: Supports multi-outputs and multi-inputs, and merges instrument tracks with the Instrument Rack
Transient navigation: Tab to transients on audio events in the Project window thanks to the new instant hitpoint navigation
Saving Quick Controls (which is actually meh, could have been there since C5!)
And these are definitely not many compared to the shiny content (VST/VSTi) that is being slinged at us.

That, and the sad realisation that certain bugfixes will never be handled, or only be handled in 7.5 and onward. If ever.

To me, it is not(!) a reason to update. At least not for 50 EUR. 25EUR would have been more fair. Pity that so less people realize that, budweiser.

The new Instrument (t)Rack is perhaps the best feature to me. I'm also curious to try the new Score Editor, and see how much more I can achieve with the new MIDI editing included. This can be a great feature for people who compose based on score.

That is correct, even after the release of Cubase 6.5 we released a Cubase 6.0.7 update with bug fixes.
So, customers who decided to stay with Cubase 6.0.6 will also benefit from the bug fixes included on the 6.5 update.
And after Cubase 7 was released we also updated Cubase 6.5.4 to Cubase 6.5.5

Hello,
Izak Synthiemental wrote:I wonder whether Steinberg finally realized, that in a drum sampler you would want to stack/layer multiple drum sounds on one key in order to create your own unique drums (classical example: layering a 808 kick under a accoustic kick sample). It's shocking, but this very basic feature was missing in the former version of Groove Agent SE!!! Can anyone tell me, whether they implemented this basic feature in the updated version of Groove Agent SE?
It was not missing in GroveAgent ONE, but there was a bug which made some of the layered samples not remember the selected volume.
I have tested the new Grove Agent SE and I can tell you that this feature is now working as expected ;)

i'll pass. I'm waiting for C8. I want C5 updated, not make of it a crhitmas tree decoration fest. Also i think they could improve the routing, making it able for groups to be record enabled, eg. Instead ST has chosen to dumb down seriously stacked recording, or track comping, as it is named by other vendors. ST was the first, had the best implementation... It still is on C5.5.

If anyone buys this update, he loses the right to moan about anything that has to do with Steinberg. He has to vote with his wallet or keep his mouth shut forever.

Enjoy your new crippled VSTs with your crippled DAW.

TheoM wrote:This is a must for me as it has hitpoints on arrange page. That is worth 50 euros. :)
This is the most interesting new feature; I hope it is indicative of the direction for 8- to be able to view and line up midi and audio (hit points) on the same screen is useful.

And again, only answers to "selected people".

Well, I'm in touch with the Managment anyway... might as well ask them.

Hello all,

I just wanted to clarify something about the grace period upgrade, last year it started on the 25 of October, this year it began on the 15 of October.
It is exactly 6 weeks as last year.

Damn St, Track versions and visibility worth the upgrade money alone. I'll stop watching the vids or i'll go crazy. There to much gear too spend ny money on, for me, right now. Updating Cubase is tied with S Gear and Komplete now. :bang:
