Got the ipad air 128 gigs also. It's expensive but I'm totally into jamming with this mainly due the touch aspect of it. Apps will slowly begin to use the ipad air's speed.
To kev, if you plan on jamming with some synths there's a whole bunch of nice ones out there. I can only recommend audiobus to route audio as it is one of the most practical piece of music app on the ipad. You can for instance use it to record along with effects straight into an app like auria, beatmaker 2, cubasis,ect or into a looper like loopy hd.
Audiobus 2 is coming also with more possiblities to route more than 1 synth/effects in parallel and serial.
All you need is a class complient keyboard and lighting to usb adapter thingy to hook it up to the ipad.
