As it happens, I've never seen a movie he scored. I know a lot of people think he's amazing. Once at music theory someone wanted to know what bass brass he used for some cue in Inception so I checked it out. Nothing struck me as exceptional either way, and I suspected I was hearing a lossy copy so I didn't judge. He was using synths to beef up the brass. I'm sure this was Epic.
Since, I have heard two tunes, one of them this thing. I think they are very nice tunes. This one reminds of Vangelis a bit. But there are equally people that absolutely abhor Zimmer in the classical, you know, VSL milieu. That just exalt John Williams, who I think is extremely skilled but I never want to hear it outside the context, and some of it AT ALL.
