I just paid $5 for someone to critique a track...

- I will tell you how stupid you are for paying me 5 bucks to tell you how stupid you are...

- I will write you a hello world program in any obscure programming language that has an example of how to write a hello world program on its web site for $5

- I will criticize your looks if you send me a photo of you for $5

- I will not curse you for $5

Wonder if I could make a living from that...

Fiverr is incredible.
If I was rich, I would just cruise it all day causing random acts of awesome around the web.

Looks like its gone now, but when I first discovered Fiverr there was a chick who would put your logo/message on a big sign and hold it while riding through a field on a horse, and send you the video.
I think she may have even made it appear that she was topless.... but that may be my imagination adding that detail...

If she were really naked, I bet she'd make a lot of fivers...

Problem with those websites (also kickstarter and the likes), that they forbid anything fun (sex&drugs&...) in their policies. I once had the idea to found a kickstarter platform for anything that is forbidden on kickstarter.com, but I probably would need to go someplace remote that doesn't have extradition treaties...

For $9 you can buy crowd reviews with 20 people... For more $ you can buy 200 or 2000 reviews and this from companies making such stuff every day (eg. Reverbnation they using Soundout as a review provider).

IMO one review from a guy you know makes not much sense. You need some kind of blind audition from more independent people.

Yep.
I cant think of the names off the top of my head, but there are some big sites, (with subscription fees much bigger than $5), that anonymize the pool of tracks and have them reviewed by "industry" people, who are not anonymous.
Afai have seen, these sites are almost totally focused on commercial hip hop/RnB type 'beats'. I think some may also have a method of selling the tracks too.
Im sure they rake in subscription fees from amateurs, but there are reports of people making real money via these kinds of places, if they are making really hot stuff.

I'm willing to bet $5 that he's not going to tell you anything about your track you don't already know.

PFFFT, I'm the one who just had surgery, I need the money!
If I can sit at home and just critique tracks for $5, hell yeah I would! I'll even give you a REAL critique, not some "yeah it was okay" or "wow what garbage" but I'll actually explain why!

Depends on who it is, right? If it would be Trevor Horn who would give me creative advice on a production, I would gladly pay a whole cart of money. If it would be my step mother - I'd gladly pay her anything to shut her mouth! :)

Yeah, I laugh, pay money to critique a track, is that based on 'Technical Ability' 'Musicianship' 'Mix', 'Master' or 'Taste'.

The trouble is, even with pro's judging your music, you can never guarantee they have the same priorities as yourself.

I just try to make music that's the best of my ability at the time, one thing that annoys me these day's is that listeners seem to want the best from an artist straight away, before they make it to the scene.

In the good old day's artists were allowed 'Poetic Justice' for there tracks, allowing them do a little better, next time, but still get a clap. mind you, that's the illusion of the internet talking I guess, if I was to get out a start playing live again, I would probably get a better response.

It's either in or out these day's.
