You really are a moron....a company has there software stolen, and they are in the wrong for finding ppl who steal it? I think its good work on their part.
So how do you feel about Tone2 including "checkers" in their freebie downloads like Firebird+

It's basically the same thing innit?

depends what issues the software can cause to a persons system? and whether there are safeguards in place to avoid it causing any issues for those who are not using pirated software.
dont have any experience of firebird, so im not saying it does cause problems.

What you are saying is, they charge a lot of money, so its ok to steal it. I wonder what you have on your computer....
They are in the wrong for overpricing there software in the first place. Then going after people and forcing them pay for there over priced software. I wouldn't have a problem if all other companies did this as long as they are reasonably priced to start with :P If it wasn't for cracked software I wouldn't have paid for any software ironically, once I decided to start selling my music after getting familiar with what's out there without limitations. Now I have lots of free software along with paid and even two dongle's now. Please spare me any lectures, if you are a dev or interested in this subject then you must be aware of the stats and how many people first started with cracked then went legit. Oh wait :dog: just needed to add the word moron in my reply to make this a grown up discussion

Sometimes those 20 yo warezing kids grow up, make some money, and purchase every license they use. Thousands of dollars worth.

That's pretty much the cycle of life. Take --> Get old --> Give

I prefer to let people learn on their own (or not).

But it in both cases devs offer "goodies" (freebie software, paying for studiotime) as a "bait" to be able to "get inside" and check out things ;)

My take on it as well.
My empathy goes towards small devs experiencing hardships due to rampant piracy of their stuff, but i don't quite understand how some people who're just legit customers posting in forums can choose to get so worked up over it.
It's such a throwback, like a virtual lynch mob, righteous defenders of the values of capitalism.
It can get about as absurd as kids telling you you're stupid for paying for stuff. Stoopid trench wars.

That said, major studios using warezed high priced stuff is f**ked up. Still wouldn't report it though.

+1

Not to mention that i doubt that most audio software developers will have the means to efficiently prevent piracy.

'Sometimes', how often do you think it happens on average that pirates rebuy everything they pirated ?

The worst kind of pirates in my opinion are those who use warez to make money, not just to "try before you buy"

How's that again? Are you saying that stealing is OK when the dev can't efficiently prevent it? Seriously? :dog:

Please tell me I'm misinterpreting this. Please.

You are. In fact, i have no idea how you're reading out, what you read out of my comment. I simply said that i doubt that most developers have the means (is that misunderstandable maybe? I mean they don't have the money) to efficiently prevent piracy. So it makes no difference whether you report piracy or not, if the company doesn't have the ability to file a lawsuit, it won't change a thing. Max of what they can do is ask the filesharing service to take the stuff off their site. And even that can be a costly thing, keeping in mind how quickly warez spread.

They can do what they like, you can chose if you use the software or not. If you are doing nothing wrong, you have nothing to hide.

ah right, they overpriced their products....so ive only got £3K in the bank, but the car i want is £6k, i think its overpriced, can i steal it? Should i then complain when the owner comes round my house and takes me to the cops?

who the f**k are you to decide what a company charges?

100% agree with you on professionals that use stolen software, clearly profiting off of the backs of others.

Your point regarding how often a warezer turns into a buyer is valid, though if we're going to consider that, we also have to consider how many warezer's would buy the software if they didn't have warez access.
I want to be clear here: I'm not saying that it's ok to use cracked software if you wouldn't have purchased it anyway, or under any other circumstances. I am however saying that it's not all lost profits, and it's sometimes (that word again) a form of advertising for a potential future customer.

Kriminal, too closed minded of counter arguments and poor analogies to continue what I'm sure would be a pointless cycle of elaborating on trivialities with a few childish grammar thrown in on your part. At the very least consider if the majority of other people would consider if waves plugins are over priced relative to any other plugs before asking any "who do you think you are question"....... :P :ud:

It doesnt matter if i think something is overpriced or not. I dont steal stuff just cos i cant afford it.

Plenty of ppl must buy it. The company isnt bankrupt.

You keep stealing, or better still, code your own equally complex software.....oh wait, you cant....

Waves plugins are overpriced to make the discounted percents during the sales sound more impressive (- 70 %, WTF, No-Brainer? :o)
