Wouldn't it be terrible if someone were to somehow combine the two, and it caught on? Yes, truely that would suggest that we may be living in the worst of all possible worlds. :hihi:
Never heard of CDM - Country Dance Music?

It's a mixture between Beatport Top 20 and 95.9 The Ranch... :P

What bugs me the most is autotunny (or vocoder/etc) stuff the most. From cuntry to rap, it's used so frequently and brings out homicidal thoughts. Sorry for those of you who use it and like it, but I just think anything with it sounds awful. And I hate daft punk :hihi: ( except ironically the one song that put them over the top )

I've also noticed the "oh oh oh's" quite a bit in all popular music and it's just like a cheese grater on the nerves.

So, if EDM doesn't have those elements, then it's fine.
Same here, re: hiphop. In the 90's instrumental hiphop and "trip hop" were massive and I couldn't get enough of it.

When it comes to autotuned vocals, let's be honest, it's become the sonic equivalent of slathering ketchup all over a meal. More so than any other effect such as reverb or random glitches. Just as ketchup can hide a lack of flavour, so 'tune can hide a lack of talent, whilst simultaneously removing any human qualities from the performance. Putting autotune on a whole song is basically throwing your hands up in the air and saying "yep, I have no ideas and my vocalist has no talent, but my target audience doesn't seem to care, so what the hey!".

Not really into music with guys singing, unless it's country. There are a few exceptions, but generally I think guys should stick to rapping and deejaying. Girls can sing, rap or deejay as far as I'm concerned.

I also love the intersections of country and EDM and country and rap. Now, if somebody could only somehow put all three together, like the Lacs rapping over a Martin Garrix track...

I'm sure it's been done. There will be fiddles though.

Country is such crossover today you could mix lady gaga and toby keith and nobody would notice the difference.

You do know that they actually DO use the same group of musicians over and over, right? I mean there are a handful of musicians that do everything.
Yeah, that's what I figured. that's why everything sounds the same.

Yesterday in the car, radio was playing smooth jazz version of that Radiohead song, that I really hate, for long time I didn't know that THIS is Radiohead and in fact it's the only song by Radiohead I know, anyway somehow it really and deeply gets on my nerves, I recognize it by the phrase "I wanna be f**** special... but I'm a freak". Now the smooth jazz version was f**** slaughter, I actually asked my wife to stop the car and run into the woods screaming.
Though I like jazz, I think smooth jazz is the lowest form of jazz in existence, usually it doesn't bother me, but this combination of this horrible, horrible song and this a hack work, converting it into smooth puke to monetize some of it's fame (I guess it's famous), ouch... a horror.
Then I don't think there are many kinds of music I don't like. The whole 4 on the floor electronic stuff, with thousands of sub-genres, that all sounds like looped single note of bass drum, I don't like it, it's deadly boring, but it doesn't bother me, no emotional reaction. Autotuned rap is ludicrous, but I like rap a lot, so I can overhear this. When I think about it, there's only one kind of music I really hate, pompous classic rock, stuff like late Pink Floyd or Queen. Problem is, it's kind of unavoidable, sooner or later it will get you, out of some bar you're passing by or from a passing car, hard luck.

I'm thinking something more like "Timber", but with a drop with huge supersaw leads and redneck lyrics.

Anything dishonest sounding . You get that in every genre these days . A good song is a good song though , even if you hate what genre it comes from . The test of time says a lot for music though .

Anything with a big time attitude - you know, some cock going, 'Hey you f**ks! Look at me!"

Yeah, birdsong, f'king hate it.

Gives me flashbacks to a party I was at about 15 years ago. Everyone drunk, the CD is skipping about all over the place, people are flailing around everywhere... *shudders*

Then people are like "loosen up! why don't you dance?". Little did I know that 5 years later I'd have lowered my expectations so much that I'd be dancing to "Chihuahua"
