Dog vs Dawg is not grammar. Jesus. All that is is a colloquialism, an accent written out.

Trying to point that out (which smacks of racism to me), is the opposite of funny unless you like people laughing at you and not with you.

Not necessarily, if you WERE in elementary school, writing an essay on your pet dog, and you spelled it dawg repeatedly, you would get held back. Don't take the forum that seriously, please. You know what I meant.
