Okay, just to verify for this dumb songwriter please... I can use Smart stuff 'live' in Orion Platinum, feed .WAV's through Slifty, 'play and record' Galactix going through SupaPhaser... Stream the whole SOB/Enchilada song to .WAV, convert the .WAV to MP3 in WaveLab (128kbs) and stick it up on www.soundclick.com/stevenwest to enter?
Just don't want to wind up like Vanessa Williams winning the contest, and never had posed 'raw' before and loosing the crown?
I really don't understand that part still? Can I just say the Anechoic Simulator was done in Raw PCM in the background, and get away with that then?

... AS LONG AS the .wav files you bung through slifty are derived from processing a smartelectron!x .dll ...
... EVERYTHING must be based on bram & cos products

I say give them to Vit-D
Well done to SE for doing the comp tho, you strange bastards

Too cool a comp to let pass by...... And I have none of the prizes, so.......
Will be a cool challenge with the restrictions given, only the raw data material is something I need to find out about more.
Smart move

In a private message warbug wrote to me:

Wavefiles are just DATA. So, inverse you can think of any data as audio. However, if this data wasn't meant to be audio in the first place, it's going to sound quite fuckt up.
So, what can you do: open ANY file in an audio editor and tell the audio editor: "this is a wave file, read it as such"
How you can do this is described here:
http://www.smartelectronix.com/raw.php?selected=comp
(using audacity)
And, some resulting files - from opening the DLL's - can be found here:
http://www.smartelectronix.com/refer.ph ... _audio.zip
Now it's quite important that you grasp this rule. Entries that don't use this rule for at least a few sounds will be rediculed (

Okay, figured out how to get 'the nasty' out of these .DLL's, pretty cool!
But some questions though - how do you know these are Smart sounds? Xoxos recently contributed samples from Speak & Spell torture sessions that kinda sound similar? And I'm using your OLD Cyanide .DLL (cause it's REALLY colourful!) so does that still count?
And one last question, does this atrocious burst of noise have to remain 'as is' in the song - or can one trim it and/or extract from it to make it more BPM and/or tonal friendly?

You're probably fine with trimming, editing, et.c., and probably EQing it with your host, but any other processing you do has to be done with SmartElectronix plugins.
But since there's about 60 of them (including 4 instruments) including delays, reverbs, phasers, flangers, compression, distortion and a shitload of FSU bizarrities, then you should probably find summat interesting to do to them. I know I will.
