For "the best plug-in to process a modestly-recorded vocal track"

Focusrite actually have the cleanest sounding converter/preamps in the game. You definitely wont get that warm, colored, thick, fat sound you get from an Avalon 737 or Manley strip. Yet you'll definitely get a pristine recording with the scarlett though. Just add some saturation, and color to suit your needs after you record. Try to use waves Rbass subtly, on your vocals to fatten them up in the bottom end.

Agreed. You should be able to get a good signal with your interface.dolo83 wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 10:50 pm Focusrite actually have the cleanest sounding converter/preamps in the game.
Although I do have an external mike pre-amp/channelstrip, I see that as a luxury. The biggest part of my vocal sound comes from my vocal FX chain which is setup with mainly free plugins and a few magware plugins. I did a search to replace some 32bit plugins with 64bit alternatives which I documented in a discussion here on the forum.
My setup, including hardware: viewtopic.php?p=7476602#p7476602
The replacement FX I ended up with: viewtopic.php?p=7477681#p7477681

If you've already got a clean recording and you want to add some colour, Kazrog True Iron is worth a go.
But as above, if it's a bad recording from an inappropriate mic pre, then no plugin is going to fix that. Fortunately Focusrite Pre's are decent.

How is the driver and latency performance on the UR44?arkmabat wrote: Sat Aug 09, 2014 6:46 am UR44's preamps are amazing. Worth every penny. My roommate asked if I had "autotune" on when it was only the preamp and a little delay haha. They sound very good. I don't think software can replace that.
