Yes, I forgot the filter room in my praise, many more weeks can be spend in that one. The only room I never enter is the FX room, nothing so special in there.

Wrong! Still some cool stuff, like Pitch & Time, CrossFade (cross synthesis convolution), Harmonics, Inertia, Grain, VFT Envel, Harmonize, Ring Modulator… Not saying the effects are total ground breaking and never seen before, but they're still pretty good and nice to mess with imo.

But you know, with the many tools you have Simon I can understand you don't really enjoy them. They're still pretty interesting manglers for some though.

Sure, I just forgot the KVR-obligatory IMHO.

A couple of quick thoughts about MetaSynth (I work at U&I Software -- so I am not unbiased -- but I also work at U&I Software because I like the tools). It seems like every person that uses MetaSynth has their own favorite thing or things about MetaSynth -- and it always surprises me how different those opinions are. Some people use the Image Filter and Image Synth and nothing else -- some use all the rooms -- and some rarely leave the FX Room or Spectrum Synth.

Joe Walker, film editor on the Academy Award-winning film "Twelve Years a Slave", is someone that seems to love the FX Room. He talks a bit about MetaSynth here: http://provideocoalition.com/shullfish/ ... joe-walker

I have posted a couple of pieces created solely with the Grain effect that I get a lot of email about here: http://www.uisoftware.com/EAS/grains/

If you haven't checked out the various videos, you might find them worthwhile. There are links to some videos that we put together here:

There are more MetaSynth-related videos here:

It's still a stand alone application, eh? That kills it for me. Iris isn't as cool, but at least it fits in my world really well. Also, for resynthesis check out Poseidon.

Oh, while we've got someone from the company here, may I ask if there are any plans of porting it as a plug in?

I don’t want to answer for the developer, but I would not count on that. Simply because I think Metasynth is waaaay to deep and complex to be ported as a plugin. And Metasynth exists since what, end of the 90’s or something? If it was in their plans I think it would have been done already… But I’d like to though! But I seriously doubt it’s gonna
happen… But who knows!

Well, for a start it doesn't even have Midi in.

Post

You can use Xx and use Midi to control the synthesizers in metasynth.

But not in real time.

Right, I understand that it's too complex to be a plug in, but why not leverage some of that tech to give a taste of metasynth in a plug in format?
