Scott system is just cruising at 50%..
...and recording a video at 30 fps ;)

What computer should I get for music making?

Try deactivating ultra smooth view and force refresh rate... also enable triple buffer.
That might help quite a bit with CPU.

Thanks Gents...
Guess I need to disqualify myself from reporting bugs for this Beta... It just might be my system.. :(

Edit... BTW, the deactivating thing did not go too well..

Peace..
Maybe check your power settings and switch to "High Performance", if it is not selected automatically - i had similar issues while the plans "Balanced" or "Power Saving" was active. Furthermore, open the options in FL Studio, navigate to "General settings - Advanced" and check if "force high performance power plan" is activated (btw, quite handy function, IL hehe).

Installed to 1.26 GB, most of it (~1 GB) is crap that I don't need at all, let alone on my system drive. Now I'll have to spend 1-2 hours of my life to sift through the folders and clean what I don't need. Has it ever occurred to you, Image-Line, to provide an option in your installer to install just the app and the files that are absolutely necessary for it to run, and to provide another option where the user can choose what else to install?

The ASIO4All version that's bundled with it is more than a month old.

Edit: I see there's still (version 12!) only one choice for a vst folder in the options menu. What about 2, 3 or more? Is that too difficult to implement? Or just nobody uses more than 1 folder for vst plugins, hmmm?

In case you don't know, you can set a symbolic link to bypass (work around) the limit to only one VST folder. A quick google search or search on the IL forums should suffice.

You can change the installation location during setup. My FL11 (not the beta) also doesn't keep more than about 30 MB of files on the system drive -- the location of the data folders can be changed. The beta didn't dump anything extra on my system drive, as far as I can tell.

The point is that the installer should provide more options what to be NOT installed. Of course I can move things around or delete them.
Symbolic links - more extra work FOR ME and for anyone who wants to have more than one folder for plugins.

My biggest criticism, though, would be that in the piano roll, you cannot select notes from editable ghosts together with notes from the active channel and move them around as a group - or, can you? I can't tell, because the Help Index doesn't open here (FL.chm)! Maybe I should do a quick search around the Net? Hmmm....

The installer is 400 Mb. It expands to about 1 GB. We don't think that is particularly onerous these days. As noted above, choose another install location.

It's not the biggest problem in the world, of course, but would be nice to have a more detailed installer - for convenience, etc. Do I need 64 bit FL plugins on my 32 bit system, if the 32 bit versions of said plugins are also being installed? :scared:  And if I'm not going to use any of those?

Not currently possible, although make sure to turn on the Piano roll Menu > Helpers > Editable ghosts.

It's a BETA, with unified installer, what can I say... the release installers won't be like this.

Thanks, Scott, I've turned that on, it's very useful.
I think selection/editability of groups of notes from different tracks should be very high on the todo list.

Anyway, :tu: and congrats, FL is getting better and better! I wish I had this version 12 years ago... :D

It's not optimal, but you can work around it using file system junctions. E.g. on Windows, create some folder and add junctions to your real plugin folders using mklink. Then use the folder containing the junctions as the plugin folder in FLS.
