I don't mind it – I actually love how he's being very honest about his opinion about the tune. Very entertaining at times.

I also used to listen to his shows on the radio when I was little. So a bit of childhood nostalgia may be a part of it too. Hehe!

Germany tries the "Spy Theme" route this year? Well, at least it's not such a bad entry like in recent years...
Definitely one of the less annoying entries. Yeah you could hear they were going for a Conchita/James Bond style.

a name like electro velvet sounded promising, then i heard it :(
Guilty conscience, or guilty pleasure?
guilty that i gave up being an assassin before tbis years 'play offs' for choosing our entry.

I couldn't face watching it this year, although the missus has recorded it so I'll probably be subjected to some torture in the coming days. I just turned on for the voting, and can see that the UK is off to a flying start this year. One point on the board after only 12 rounds of voting.

Will the hosting nation draw a blank?

Apparently – but their entry wasn't great either.

Just watched that on Youtube. No soul, no identity. Could be any random tune from overseas. Not that i care about Eurovision Song Contest much. But the tunes used to reflect at least some part of the nations identity in the past. But then, what's the german identity nowadays anyway?

Sorry for rant. ;)

Does anybody else hear the frog croaking before each nation's announcer is introduced?

I'm a gay dude so my Facebook feed is basically in Eurovision meltdown right now. It's been a load of turgid shite as usual, but I've enjoyed the daft Facebook banter.

Yep, and I'm immediately reminded of the first sound you hear in this track. I wonder if it's the same sample...

Haha it's definitely an odd sound. Sticks out like a sore thumb but didn't make me think of a frog, more of a ringtone.
Until now...
Argh...no NOT THE FROGS!!

UK has just sneaked up to 5 points. No doubt that tonight will be deemed to be successful.

And the chime tone totally sounds like the MarioKart starter countdown:

And I thought it was my phone.

It turns out my favourite song actually won the contest – Congrats Sweden!

Can't agree on that any more.

Did you hear "Lena"'s (Lena Meyer-Landrut) recent single? This went from "bubbly German" with very bad accent to over the top US American, glitch pop autotuned/chorused BS where every singer sounds the same. (read: 08/15 chart stuff)

Her English improved however - and her album has success.
So yeah...

Sweden again

It's a toss up between them and Ireland who should just take on hosting it every year

It was annoyingly catchy i'll give it that but sounded so out of place compared to the other entries.

But what the hell do I know about music, I thought the Australian, Swedish and Russian entries were all forgettable pap. Though the only entries I did quite like both did quite well, Latvia and Belgium.

Also, am I right in thinking both the recent Swedish wins were previously big hits across Europe? Don't think that's fair, previous exposure etc.
