Hey off topic, but Tracktion4 seems to be free now. Since it's cross platform, maybe it would be interesting to do an osc with tracktion4 only? Don't know if it has synths included... EDIT: No, only fx it seems.

I was planning on entering for the first time, but this is way over my head.
Can't make head nor tail from this interface. A manual would be nice.

Just installed and there are some really interesting sounds in there. It is capable of them, though there looks like a learning curve. Knobs don't always do what I expect them to, in fact, rarely. Also jumpy and not smooth dials when using mouse. I will try and program a simply bass and see how that goes. Where is the phase distortion section?

So we got to rename this contest to ODC (One DAW Challenge)? Next one will be Mulab Free, limited to four tracks and 8 VSTs. Now that's a real challenge!

I'm afraid that I won't be able to participate this month :(

... I'm still running Windows 7 on my Macbook on a second partition. Is anyone aware of a capable free DAW for Windows that allows for creating track stacks to layer sounds? :help:
i've been playing with chaining BlueArp instances to layer synths in the now-obsolescent Studio One v2 to great effect. can even use it to fake polyphony. chances are the aforementioned free traktion version can use that approach.

Thanks for the info psmacmur! :tu:

Will have a look at your suggestions...

I'm also out, this is the most buggy synth I've ever seen. I really like a challenge, but using this synth feels more like torture

Tried to create a kick drum.... Found sine wave, yay! Then tried pitch envelope... Attack at minimum, but wtf???? There's still a 1 second attack????

No thanks, don't feel like wasting any more time on this :bang: :bang: :bang:

Unfortunately, I have to agree. This has been the worst synth in the brief time I've been doing these (since OSC 72) and I can't get even 1 of 3 DAWs to not spit this thing up like pea soup.

Not sure how these are decided but somebody dropped the ball on this one.

Can we switch it to T-force alpha plus now? :D Maybe make a running poll each month and the winner is the next month's osc so it's not always up to one person to decide.

T-Force is pretty cool, and on the list. I generally go with what people are interested with, but this month is more of a quirky one. I think a few quirky ones per year is fun. The thing about OSC is you take the synth and limitations and try to make something awesome. Each synth has it's own challenges, much like life.

There are a few synths posted already. Charlatan would be fun, but I want to know what ETA for mac is first.

Make a post on the Discussion forum what you'd like to see :D

Hmm a new OSC...I'm tempted to try my hand again. I got a little depressed at how low I placed on the first OSC I tried, but since I'm still pretty new at production I guess I did ok just getting a finished song out there. Will have to download the VST and play around with it to see if I can jive with it. I've mostly been playing around with Hive lately now that version 1 came out.

Agreed. I've only just started looking at this one, and it seems like there are hidden depths.

Tho not got great sounds from it (yet) it sounds a bit gritty/metallic, probably aliasing, and the filters seem rough, and the envelopes do have issues. But I'm sure after some more digging there will be huge sounds in there :box: Not got much time this week but will try to create some patches to post here. :singer:

Anyone figured out how to create some percussive sounds with this synth yet?

Yeah, i'm working on a few.

Tried this beast the last hours. I like it. It's cool for hardcore stuff, but maybe I'll try something different. Some percussions were done very fast.

Does someone know about a good tutorial to make vocal patches. Some hints how to create oohhs, aahhs or some choir stuff would be helpful. :help:

Will do some patches until weekend, it's this time easy to save, believe I can manage it this time :hihi:
