None of these really affect me either, but if you're using a shite soundcard (like I was until recently), then some of these things could really become an issue. If they know these bugs exist, why not fix them before taking the update public? This just seems like more of a turd on your pillow instead of a mint. Besides, these are just the one's they caught (which again raises the question of why implement a fix that's going to require more fixing)--what about the ones that slipped through the cracks?
Edit: I know all these have work arounds, but I thought one of the main marketing points of SE/SL/SX was that it was far more efficient than VST. It impedes workflow and more time is spent mindfucking the app than making music.

sorry, are you talking about
"known issues" ?
if so, then I wonder if Emagic and Cakewalk even publish such a document ?
Emagic never did before.
in my experience all software has bugs of some sort.
just look at the latest logic 6 update.

Cool.
Unfortunately, the list of bugs doesn't encourage installing at this point...
scary
unless the bugs listed have been fixed?

Cakewalk or Emagic may not have published them--I never used any of their products. It's just irritating to see "Hi, this is what you get, and this is what we know about, but these we are dumping on you anyways instead of trying to fix because we'd rather be able to say 'Oh we've made updates [insert length of time]'".

I think that it's good that Steinberg listed the bugs they know of. It seems that whatever they do people are gonna be bitching. Bugs or no bugs. At least we know what to expect and why, if we in the situation that triggers the bug. Thats better than being frustrated with the program not working and not knowing what to do about it.Polychrome wrote:Steinberg is shooting itself in the foot. Don't they have a clue about marketing? That bug list is absurd.
So Steinberg - FIX YOUR BUGS.
People - STOP BITCHING and start doing something !!! Don't update if you don't feel like it!!!

exactly, I remember thinking.
"shit why isn't this working, im doing this
re: the manual, months later emagic released fix"
bugs are like farts, better out than in.

I think it's great that they're being so upfront about their bugs. Hopefully this is another step towards better customer service. Commercial software in the IT world almost always comes with this kind of information.AndrewW wrote:I think that it's good that Steinberg listed the bugs they know of. Well my update doesn't seem to want to install. It just asks for the CD and then does nothing.
Did anyone happen to read a solution to this at Cubase.net before they closed it for "maintenance" ??
Thanks.
I think the known issues list is extremely important as it lets users know that they already know about certain bugs, and intend to fix them. As for "marketing", to me it demonstrates an openness I like in a software company, and that they still have confidence in their product even though it has bugs.

It autoruns and starts another setup routine (the standard SX2 setup), so I cancel that and the first setup (update routine) is still just asking for the disk like this, pressing OK does nothing-topaz wrote:it asks for the sx2 cd, you put that in and nothing happens ?

Any ideas?

Try restarting your Update Setup when you already have your SX 2 CD in the drive. If that doesn't do it, I'd try downloading the Update package again....

maybe their customer support got tired of customers always calling in with the same known problems.. so they decided to include ALL known bugs onto the list..
and maybeeee.. just perhaps... they are trying to save money so they can lower their product's prices and/or hire more programmers and developers!!!
