You're overlooking "event fx" which is one of the most useful and innovative tools in S1.

You can put an entire effects chain on one event, tweak to taste, and then hit ctrl+B to bounce. What could be more powerful than that? Big improvement over the offline vst processing of Cubase.

And also, to fairly judge the pitch shifting capabilities of S1 you should have melodyne, as S1 was built with the idea of melodyne handling certain duties.

Audio / Midi, who cares, we have soundcloud integration. I kid, i kid. It will be great in v4, youll see! :)

Image Line's Minihost Modular is a great little tool to get that functionality in every daw. It even has its own piano roll to insert MIDI inside the chain. Very useful little bugger!

I'll have S1 3 for sale soon if anyone wants it.
I'll return to S1 hopefully in v4 in 3 years time once they have all those things sorted out!

I just did the opposite! Took the hit on less options for faster workflow with S1 and gave been amazed by how much more productive I am and how much more creative an environment I find S1 - it's just whatever works for you!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I've never found a pitch envelope being a must have for "serious composers" (in fact, if anything, the arranger track is much more needed). Look at the Event FX coupled with a plugin or choose another DAW if you really need that functionality. S1's workflow is extremely good IMO.

still counting the days/months/years until v4...

Well Cubase has many more years of development compared to Studio One, but I agree with you, Cubase audio editor is far far superior at this job. One can only hope that we'll get a similar one in S1.
