Mellotrons have an "unearthly" sound that I love, regardless of which frame is being used. They just sound "right", even when they are drifting slightly out of spec. Prog certainly wouldn't have been the same without these wonderful instruments.

I know what you mean Tim. Research shows that humans find slightly off timing and/or pitch is more appealing. More human! There's where a mellotron comes to the fore!

I presume that you mean the Québécois band Harmonium and their second album "Si on avait besoin d'une cinquième saison". I've listened to the first couple of track tonight and will check out the rest tomorrow.

Things have certainly moved on very quickly regarding the tools and instruments used for making music. This song predates MIDI by 3 years, although I think the first DAW arrived in '78.

There seems to be quite a healthy Prog Rock scene at the moment, helped greatly by Steven Wilson's prolific remix projects, which are breathing new life into the genre. I think his remix of Gentle Giant's 1972 classic, Octopus, is due for release in 10 days' time.

It's a logistical, scheduling problem, in corporate parlance. At least, that's what they say when the paycheck goes missing.
