Dear Yellukhan,

I’m so fascinated by your videos, they are my best source of inspiration and learning. However, I’m either too much of a newcomer in RC or too stupid to fully grasp all details.
I was in conflict for a while, whether to admit that and go tot he trouble of documenting all my questions, but now I thought, I should give it a try. Otherwise it might take me forever to wrap my mind around it.
So here’s a bundle of questions regarding your video about the Rave Chord Phrase at .
It would be great if you could fill me in about the following:

1) First of all: Even though I see it working, I still don’t fully understand the function of your new „Chromat“ chord: Why draw all 12 tones? I guess, so that it plays the right ones, corresponding to whatever scale or chords have been chosen, right? But why is this necessary, since RC would be transposing the pattern anyway?

2) Then, you write that this chord will be of no use in the arrangements. Why not? What else is it for? I don’t get it.

3) At 1:47, I noticed that you seem to have a shortcut to mark the whole block of notes, except the ones in the bass, you don’t seem to use the lasso for this. How do you do that?

4) Right after, at 1:51, in the Note editor, I see that the whole middle-section oft he Note Index is marked in blue. When I tried to do the same, only Lowest, L+1 and L+2 are marked in my version.

Why ist that and what’s the function here, anyhow? And why are my colors different to yours?

5) Then, when you switch back to Composition view at 2:16, suddenly there’s three rows of notes in the upper part oft he screen, instead of one as in the begining. How did that happen? I know, it’s the C Major chord and I assume that RC did it by itself, because that’s the chord which is given in the Master track at this position. But when I switch back to Composition view in my own version of fit, I’m still stuck with that one line: Image
Why is that? And again: Why is your color-scheme different than mine?

6) Then, at 2:23, I see you expanding those notes across a much longer section, and I don’t know how you are doing that. I know, I’ve read it somewhere, but I forgot. When I pull on my notes, they all get longer, but they don’t multiply.

So, these are my questions just for this one video. But enough for today, and thanks much for your time. I may ask you more questions about one of your other videos next time.

Hi Thomas,

1) Chromat.... is it necessary to have all 12 notes honestly i don't know...
probably preparing this kind of phrase in C Major 13th chord (so CDEFGAB) might work also...

basically this is about the catching all the intervals if chord in the time line has 4 or 5 or 6 notes

About the transposing if most crowded chord has max 7 note than C Major 13 will will do the same job correctly...
but i didn't want to take a risk :)

2) Chromat is just a temporary kind of a "work desk / template" ... to tell RC "chord index" of all 12 notes...
create when you need and after done preparing the phrases just delete it...

i see in your screen shot you are using C major chord in the Phrase Editor...
as you can see there is actually 3 green lines
so the 3 chord notes... C E G only....notes that sit in this lines will be indexed correctly
others not!
so you need to use in the phrase editor Chromat or C Maj 13 and draw your notes
only to the green lines to get correct note index.

and never forget to check always "Ignore non-existent chord note"

3) No, just left click to empty area and select with mouse
its screen capture software's weirdness it missing some mouse actions :)

4) is in the answer "2" ...because you are using C Major chord which has only 3 note index.
about the colors...
its in the "Settings/User Interface"...
i am attaching my modified Theme you can switch between yours and mine
to see differences because i can't remember right now.
btw if you already did some changes to your taste ..Save Your Theme first :)

5) same as Q 4 its in the answer "2"

About the colors ..

6) in the Phrase Resize (Main Window bottom of Play Stop buttons "Repeat" must be selected .

you are just a newcomer to fully grasp all details... that's all :)
i was there the day i watch themixtape's video tutorials ..hmmm 2 years ?

i hope i didn't skip anything and do not hesitate to ask i can try to help as much as i can.

Dear Yildirim,

thanks for your explanation – and sorry for my delayed response: I was swamped with work. We're running a small publishing company, and sometimes there's just so much to do that I am busy until late at night. I look forward to having soon more time and then going through a few more of your videos.
