No, NI isn't to blame, it is the second seller in this case
BUT: It would be excellent if there was some kind of universal website solution where one could go to check if a serial is good or not.

Not necessarily, he may just not be on top of things, and he might not be responding to emails because he's doing other things. My ebay account does not forward email to my daily account, I have an email account just for those things.Numanoid wrote:OK, based on that info: If the serial doesn't work, then you have been scammedSandra1983 wrote:Yes, he said Software and Hardware.
You need to make a complaint with eBay
Send him another email giving the benefit of the doubt that it may just be an oversight and open a claim with ebay. Opening a claim often gets the seller's attention. You can always tell ebay that the claim was resolved by the seller if he releases the serial number.

WTF, are you actually defending somebody selling something that is not A OK according to specifiations?ghettosynth wrote:Not necessarily, he may just not be on top of things, and he might not be responding to emails because he's doing other things.
If not on top of things, things are surely not gonna get better selling things not working
He might not have checked his E-mail of late, yeah right
I only check my E-mail when getting paid, that is the right way to go about it

Good news is you're covered.
First talk to NI and get the serial number issue sorted.
In parallel open a case with eBay - eBay won't release the funds to the seller till a specified date so if you haven't hit that date yet, seller hasn't gotten his money yet.
Regardless open a case with eBay or call them - eBay customer support is great and you'll talk to a human within a couple minutes. IF you think this has been made in error, wait for NI's response.
If you've been scammed, you're fine - eBay will refund your money and slap the seller tight.

That just isn't true. If it were, then the license would be attached to the hardware, it is not. This is true with Traktor as well. I have passed on Maschine and Kore controllers at pawn shops because I know damn well that they don't come with a license.rod_zero wrote:Well maschine must always be sold with the license since NI doesnt sell them separetely.

It doesn't matter what you think on this, people sell the hardware and keep the software and as a customer of the hardware you really have no recourse with NI. So there is no authority to enforce your opinion that the software "must" be sold with the hardware.

Calm down. I am defending a human being who might simply have made an oversight. Not everyone who buys music gear lives and breathes this stuff. It could very well be an honest mistake.Numanoid wrote:WTF, are you actually defending somebody selling something that is not A OK according to specifiations?ghettosynth wrote:Not necessarily, he may just not be on top of things, and he might not be responding to emails because he's doing other things.![]()
Again, some people have a life and when the thing is shipped they might not check their email for a few days. Did you even read what I wrote? I have an email account that I check every day, that isn't the one that ebay has. The one that ebay has is the same account that I give to all vendors. I might not check it for a month or more if I have nothing active going on.He might not have checked his E-mail of late, yeah right
I only check my E-mail when getting paid, that is the right way to go about it
If the seller didn't realize that there was something else that has to be done, he might think that his end of the deal is done.

Exactly, just relax, open up a case, and send the seller a polite email to remind him that there is an additional step that he must complete. There is no need to be overly concerned or jump to conclusions about the seller's motives.keyman_sam wrote:Good news is you're covered.

Frankly, the hangup might be at NI's end. He may have requested that the serial number is released and it may not have happened yet.

Yeah, the license is not tied to the hardware and can be sold or transferred independently. I've done this myself. I had a Maschine Mk1 and updated the software to v2 when it was released a few years ago. Last year, I found a great deal on a used Maschine Mk2 with the v2 software. Rather than transferring/reinstalling the new license and unregistering my existing license, I just kept my old license/expansions installed and swapped out the hardware. I confirmed with NI that the v2 license I received with the Mk2 was unregistered, then sold the Mk1 controller with the new v2 software, and the buyer had no problems installing/registering it.ghettosynth wrote:That just isn't true. All that said, it doesn't refute rod_zero's point that the OP can't just buy a new license from NI, unless they make a special exception due to these circumstances.
Also, I agree with ghettosynth here - it could just be an honest mistake or a hangup on NI's end, so there's no sense jumping to conclusions just yet (although, I certainly understand the frustration!).

I agree that in reality it can be sold without the license, I was trying to point out that buyer shouldn't buy it without the license since NI doesn't sell them.

Hmmmm...well, that's certainly less promising. Is the eBay link still active? Any chance you could post it? Experienced eBay users can usually tell a lot about the seller from the ad, his feedback history, etc.Sandra1983 wrote:I didn't use Paypal. He said that he only accept normal money transfer.
