Well the money is spent, went with the Ion. got a good deal i think $550 + tax. Still going to get the Evolver and I think they will make a good combination. Like alot of the responses here; teh z1 would be a nice choice but would be difficult to do a test run unless someone local is selling, tried the Microwave XT once and liked the sounds but somewhat above what money I had available, same goes for the Virus altho the Indigo would most likely be the choice I would go for, If I could find one, the wavestation would also be cool, I like Ambient styles and the WS can do that from what I have heard and Ebay often has them at good prices. The guy at guitar center who sold me the Ion said he would keep his eyes open for me for analogue gear since he is a fan of the older synths ( I just have to give him some complimentary tickets to the Rodan Exhibit here at the museum I work at, easy enough) I guess the Evolver will complete my lust for now but will look for cheap synth modules for future winnings
